Manufacturer’s Lookup Table for the Fourth Section of the VIN (Positions 10 and 11)
Positions 12 through 17 of the VIN represent the
number sequentially assigned by the
manufacturer in the production process if the
manufacturer is a high-volume manufacturer. If
the manufacturer is a low-volume manufacturer,
Positions 12, 13, and 14 combined with Positions
1, 2, and 3 of the VIN uniquely identify the
manufacturer. Please note that Positions 13
through 17 must be numeric, if the VINs are for
passenger cars, and MPVs and trucks with a
GVWR of 10,000 lbs. or less. For any other type
of vehicle, Positions 14 through 17 must be
numeric.
