Martin Tan<br />
Background<br />
Martin is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of <strong>Halogen</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong> (formerly known as<br />
Young Leaders <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong>). He is also a member of the Leadership Team for <strong>Halogen</strong><br />
<strong>Foundation</strong> International, a not-for-profit organization committed to inspire and influence a generation of<br />
young people to lead themselves and others well. He was awarded The Outstanding Young Person<br />
Award by Junior Chamber International in 2007.<br />
Professional Experience<br />
Martin served as the Executive Director of RiverLife Community Services from 2002 – 2003. He was the<br />
Chairman of Teenwerkz (Teenage Development) Workgroup under Family Matters! <strong>Singapore</strong> (MCYS) in<br />
2005 and currently serves as the Honorary Secretary of the National Family Council. Martin was recently<br />
appointed as Board Member on National Library Board and Committee Member of Youth Network under<br />
National Youth Council.<br />
Qualifications<br />
Martin is a Master Facilitator for The Leadership Challenge® - one of only 3 in <strong>Singapore</strong>, and the only<br />
one who trains youths. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction (Mass Communications) from Royal<br />
Melbourne Institute of Technology.<br />
Pearl Pang<br />
Background<br />
Pearl joined <strong>Halogen</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong> in <strong>July</strong> 2009 as Chief of <strong>Staff</strong>. While she oversees <strong>Halogen</strong><br />
<strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong>ʼs daily operations, Pearl pays special attention to youth leadership education. She<br />

works with schools to design and enhance their leadership development frameworks as well as measure<br />
the impact of their youth leadership programmes.<br />
Professional Experience<br />
Pearl served as Head (Local Extension & Company Care) in The Girlsʼ Brigade <strong>Singapore</strong> for 8½ years.<br />
She was involved in leadership training of girls as well as professional development of the adult<br />
volunteers. Prior to that, Pearl was in involved in development of a different kind – real estate. She<br />
acquired much team experience as she led different consultant teams while in Jones Lang Wootton<br />
helping clients from site acquisition through construction to completion.<br />
Qualifications<br />
Pearl is a Certified Facilitator for The Leadership Challenge®. She is also a Certified Facilitator for<br />
Habitudes. Pearl holds a Masters in Building Science & Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the National<br />
University of <strong>Singapore</strong>.<br />
Darlene Joy Uy<br />
Background<br />
Darlene joined <strong>Halogen</strong> as Manager of the Young Leaders Academy in January 2011. She now heads<br />
<strong>Halogen</strong> Projects.<br />
Professional Experience<br />
She has six years of experience working for a multi-national consumer goods company, holding various<br />
positions in planning and project management across markets in the Asia-Pacific region. In her school<br />
days, Darlene had volunteered for other organizations involved in youth education. She first joined<br />
<strong>Halogen</strong> as a volunteer in 2009.<br />
Qualifications<br />
Darlene is a Certified Facilitator for The Leadership Challenge®. She earned her life coaching certification<br />
from Results Coaching Systems (Australia) and also holds a diploma in Applied Positive Psychology. She<br />
graduated with a Bachelor's Degree (honorable mention) in Industrial Engineering from De La Salle<br />
University, Manila, Philippines.<br />

Jael Chng<br />
Background<br />
Jael joined as Head of Communications of <strong>Halogen</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong> in March 2011. Her main role<br />
is to oversee the domains of corporate and marketing communications. She is passionate about<br />
community engagement for positive change through social computing. With this passion, she spearheads<br />
<strong>Halogen</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong>ʼs social media endeavors.<br />
Professional Experience<br />
Jael has spent the last 10 years in the communications industry with experience spanning across the<br />
disciplines of public relations, communications planning, video production, web and graphics design. Jael<br />
was one of the key pioneers of Waggener Edstrom Worldwideʼs APAC digital team, managing regional<br />
clients such as HP (Hewlett Packard) and LG Global. Jael was also instrumental in building up the teamʼs<br />
capabilities in <strong>Singapore</strong> and also in Hong Kong, where she spent 3 months. Prior to joining Waggener<br />
Edstrom, Jael has worked with clients from a range of industries, including Procter & Gamble (Pantene,<br />
Hugo Boss Fragrances, Clairol), ExxonMobil, HSBC, Heineken and Nike.<br />
Jael is a regular contributor at “Actually Mag”, an online fashion and lifestyle magazine. Jael also blogs<br />
about art and life at http://jaelchng.wordpress.com/. Jael tweets about innovation, design and the arts at<br />
http://www.twitter.com/jaelchng. Jael also held her first art exhibition in 2010, leveraging social media to<br />
share her work broadly.<br />

Jael is a Certified Facilitator for The Leadership Challenge®. She holds a degree in Business (Marketing<br />
Specialization) from Nanyang Technological University, <strong>Singapore</strong> and a Diploma in Digital Video<br />
Production from SAE, Australia. Jael also holds a Grade 8 ABRSM Piano Certificate.<br />
Faith Luo<br />
Background<br />
Armed with a passion for mentoring young people, Faith joined the <strong>Halogen</strong> team in April 2011 as a fresh<br />
graduate. At <strong>Halogen</strong>, her work includes being part of the communications team, training youth in schools<br />
and managing its volunteers. She enjoys communicating and connecting with young people, helping them<br />
reach their full potential.<br />

Professional Experience<br />
Involved with youth work since she was one herself, Faith has been actively mentoring young people in<br />
the local community as a leader in various school and community programmes. Before her university<br />
schooling, she worked at Focus on the Family <strong>Singapore</strong> where her work entailed design and editorial<br />
matters, and conducting workshops for young people.<br />
Qualifications<br />
Faith holds a Bachelor's Degree with First Class Honours in Arts (Communications and Sociology) from<br />
Monash University. Faith is a Certified Facilitator for The Student Leadership Challenge® Workshop.<br />
Shawn Khoong<br />
Background<br />
Shawn joined <strong>Halogen</strong> as an Executive of <strong>Halogen</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong> in <strong>July</strong> 2011. Started as a<br />
volunteer with <strong>Halogen</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong>, he finds fulfillment in engaging youths through the <strong>Halogen</strong><br />
experience.<br />
Professional Experience<br />
Shawn was involved in leadership training since a young age, through active participation in uniform<br />
groups such as Scouts and the National Police Cadet Corps. Prior to joining <strong>Halogen</strong>, Shawn has taken<br />
on various sales-centric roles in diverse industries including consumer electronics, fashion, travel and<br />
human resource for over 7 years.<br />
Qualifications<br />
He is currently pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Training And Assessment (ACTA) and holds a<br />
Bachelor of Business (Marketing) with Distinction from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Shawn is<br />
also a Certified Facilitator for The Student Leadership Challenge® Workshop.<br />
