Congratulations to the nearly 14,000 participants who walked and ran in this year’s event! As executive Director, I continue to be overwhelmed at the growing numbers of athletes, new and returning, who turn out year after year. This year’s Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon saw a total of 13,812 registrants. This included 2,744 marathon runners, 97 marathon walkers, 7,582 half marathon runners and 732 half marathon walkers. on Saturday morning, 1,940 kids turned out for the Seattle Children’s Kids Marathon and 717 for the Seattle Marathon 5K Race. Congratulations go out to Uli Steidl, who won this year’s marathon with a time of 2:28:28. Kristen Carter was the marathon’s winning female runner with a time of 2:47:06. Jonathan lafler won the men’s half marathon 1:08:32 while Rachel Jaten won the woman’s half marathon in 1:21:19.
