method. There is not much water in <strong>the</strong> rooms, <strong>and</strong> where it is arrangements<br />

are usually made with <strong>the</strong> miners to h<strong>and</strong>le it. Some mines have<br />

very light cover, <strong>and</strong> consequently are much troubled with water, <strong>and</strong><br />

after heavy rains, sometimes, <strong>the</strong>y are entirely stopped on that account.<br />
