Young lichenologists’ workshop in Vácrátót, Hungary, 17–20 April 2009<br />
The “Young lichenologists’ workshop in Hungary” organized by Edit Farkas and<br />
Katalin Veres (Research group “Taxonomy and ecology of lichens” of IEB HAS,<br />
��������������������������������������������������������������������������������<br />
<strong>for</strong>mer experiences during similar meetings held <strong>for</strong> young ecologists – partly<br />
organized by the ecologists of the Institute of Ecology and Botany of the Hungarian<br />
Academy of Sciences, Vácrátót. The workshop was supported by the Hungarian<br />
�������������������������������������������������������������������������������<br />
Institute. The most important aim was to establish personal contacts between young<br />
lichenologists of nearby countries and to increase their communication abilities,<br />
especially in English, via presentations, discussions and in<strong>for</strong>mal conversations.<br />
�������� ������ ��� ������������ ����� ������������� ����� ������������ ��������������<br />
were provided on air pollution in Bratislava, protected lichen species in Hungary,<br />
������������������������������������������������������������������������������<br />
lowland (Slovakia), on foliicolous lichens from Bolivia, lichenicolous fungi<br />
and scientometric analysis of <strong>lichenological</strong> literature. A poster session was also<br />
held, where we could see the results of investigations on the genera Porpidia and<br />
Stereocaulon, lichen diversity on birch, and secondary metabolites in Hypogymnia<br />
physodes.<br />
