Andrew Jack The note is signed on verso<br />

by Jack, “Andw. Jack.” Andrew Jack,<br />

a resident of New Haven, served <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Connecticut L<strong>in</strong>e from 1777 to 1782. Jack<br />

is also listed as a member of <strong>the</strong> all black 2nd company, 4th Note Number 3388 for £9.8.3 issued to Mr.<br />

Andrew Jack The note is signed on verso<br />

a resident of New Haven, served <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Connecticut L<strong>in</strong>e from 1777 to 1782. Jack<br />

privates and NCOs, was formed <strong>in</strong> October<br />

of 1780 and served until November 1782.<br />

Note Number 5730 for £8.18.6 issued to<br />

Lebbeus Qui. Qui has written his mark, “x,”<br />

on verso. Lebbeus Qui, alternately Quy,<br />

was a free black from Norwich. He enlisted<br />

<strong>in</strong> 1776 and aga<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> 1780, serv<strong>in</strong>g until<br />

1782. Qui is listed as Norwich’s only official<br />

black pensioner of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Revolution</strong>ary War.<br />

In addition, addition, some state records <strong>in</strong>dicate <strong>in</strong>dicate that<br />

Qui’s family required state assistance while<br />
