“Probably the biggest thing I can take from
my time playing sports is teamwork. With
anything in life where you’re working with
people, you just have to know how to get
the best out of them and how to earn
respect and give respect.”
And for the twins? “We joked that
they would be numbers 3 and 4,” she said.
Wirth started playing basketball at
age 5, which she says “isn’t even basketball
really, it’s just running around chasing the
ball.” Alan Wirth said her drive and determination
were evident right away.
“She was willing to do all the hard
work. She would ask me to rebound while
she did the 100 or 200 shots the coach
asked her to do, then she would do
another hundred,” he recalled. “I’m proud
of not just basketball but the way she lives
her life. She doesn’t take shortcuts.”
