Financial Overview<br />
Despite the severe economic downturn that began in fall<br />
2008 and grew into the recession that continues in 2010,<br />
<strong>Share</strong> <strong>Our</strong> <strong>Strength</strong> had a strong year financially in 2009.<br />
While many nonprofits suffered losses and were forced<br />
to downsize, <strong>Share</strong> <strong>Our</strong> <strong>Strength</strong>’s revenue and overall<br />
budget grew. Thanks to careful budgeting and a generous<br />
response to the growing number of hungry children in the<br />
United States from donors, partners, and other funders,<br />
<strong>Share</strong> <strong>Our</strong> <strong>Strength</strong> earned a surplus in 2009 following a<br />
loss in 2008, and was able to increase its revenue by<br />
44 percent to $20 million in 2009.<br />
