instant response for swift overtaking. A new, innovative design for the XF’s twin-turbocharger system – a feature
of both the 275PS 3.0 Litre Diesel S and the 240PS 3.0 Litre Diesel – helps deliver this outstanding performance.
It works by incorporating two different sized turbochargers working in sequence. A larger turbo operates at lower
engine speeds when exhaust gas inputs are lower, providing strong, muscular low-speed response.
As engine revs increase, a second, smaller turbocharger kicks in enabling the V6 to deliver explosive mid-range performance.
The result is the best of both worlds – reduced turbo lag and greater response at low speed, coupled with maximum
turbocharger effectiveness at higher speeds. Yet matched with this outstanding performance is 6.8l/100km combined
fuel economy for both diesel models, along with 179g/km CO 2 emissions. Think of it as optimised power and effi ciency
