Meeting today’s ecological<br />

challenges <strong>Clariant</strong> offers<br />

sustainable products,<br />

solutions and processes and<br />

participates actively in voluntary<br />

programs such as the Global<br />

Charter Responsible Care ®<br />

and Global Product Strategy<br />

(GPS) initiatives, which are<br />

focused on the continuous<br />

improvement of our performance<br />

in the critical areas of health,<br />

safety and environment.<br />

At the core of these initiatives<br />

is the development of enhanced<br />

safety and environmentally<br />

friendly products, such<br />

as all our waterbased<br />

Mowilith ® emulsions, free of<br />

plasticizers and solvents.<br />

APEO (Alkyl Phenol Ethoxylates)<br />

and specially Nonyl Phenol<br />

ethoxylates are considered<br />

to be very toxic for aquatic<br />

life. In many countries these<br />

emulsifiers / surfactants<br />

are no longer allowed. In<br />

our portfolio you can find<br />

APEO-free dispersions.<br />

The Ultra-Low Formaldehyde<br />

Concept for textile emulsions<br />

has been developed to follow the<br />

ecological necessity to reduce<br />

Formaldehyde content, meeting<br />

the requirements of Oekotex ® ,<br />

Euro Ecolabel and other related<br />

standards. Appretan ® E-Serie<br />

dispersions for textile, nonwovens<br />

and coatings fulfill the<br />

requirements of non-detectable<br />

free formaldehyde = < 20 ppm<br />

on the substrate according<br />

to Japanese Law 112.<br />

Volatile Organic Compounds<br />

(VOC) could be hazardous and<br />

contribute to the depletion of<br />

the earth’s ozone layer (EU<br />

Directive 2004 / 42 / EC). Europe,<br />

EUA, Canada, Japan , Korea<br />

and Malaysia are countries<br />

with VOC regulations. One of<br />

the requirements for low-<br />

VOC paints is a very good film<br />

formation in paints without<br />

solvents or plasticizers<br />

even at low temperatures<br />

(e.g. +5 ºC). <strong>Clariant</strong> have<br />

developed a dispersion<br />

appropriate for low-VOC to<br />

meet the increasing demand<br />

for an ecologically responsible<br />

corporate commitment.<br />
