ART+OBJECT is pleased to announce the sale of the last great<br />
New Zealand library still remaining in private hands. Arthur Thomas<br />
Pycroft (1875–1971) a dedicated naturalist, scholar, historian and<br />
conservationist assembled the collection over seven decades.<br />
Arthur Pycroft corresponded with Sir Walter Buller. He was extremely<br />
well informed and on friendly terms with all the leading naturalists<br />
and museum directors of his era.<br />
This is reflected in the sheer scope of his collecting and an acutely<br />
sensitive approach to acquisitions. The library is rich in rare books<br />
and pamphlets, associated with personalities who shaped early<br />
New Zealand history.
