KABBAlAt torAh ProGrAM
Beginning this Fall, CAI is offering a twoyear
program called Kabbalat Torah.
Literally Kabbalat Torah would translate
as “The receiving of the Torah.” The
goal of the program is to help us better
understand Torah so we can make it
our own. Classes will be taught by your
clergy and held Tuesdays 7:00 – 9:00pm
for approximately 30 weeks each year
beginning in August. The general curriculum is planned to include:
YEAR onE:
First Hour 7 – 8pm Second Hour 8 – 9pm
• Prayer • Conservative Judaism & Jewish Law
• Israel • Life Cycle
• Basic Books of the Jews • History Through Great Jewish
Personalities
YEAR Two:
First Hour 7 – 8pm Second Hour 8 – 9pm
• Prophets • Our Calendar
• Jewish Literature • Comparative Judaism
• God • Jewish Community & Polity
NOTE: Hebrew will be offered for those who need to acquire and/or refresh their
basic skills through other CAI offerings, and/or guided independent study.
The program will culminate in a service led by the students as a
statement of their commitment to Torah and to living Judaism as a
reflection of their Kabbalat Torah.
If interested in deepening your understanding of our history and
heritage, its rich culture and traditions, and enhancing your level of
observance (probing the meaning and function of the mitzvot), then
this program is for you!
