The S<strong>NSW</strong>R stretches from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sou<strong>the</strong>rn</strong> Highlands to <strong>the</strong> Victorian border, and<br />
encompasses some <strong>of</strong> Australia’s best fibre growing areas. S<strong>NSW</strong>R is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
largest alpaca regions in Australia. The region provides top quality genetics and a<br />
healthy supply <strong>of</strong> breeding stock, both huacaya and suri. Advice and assistance is<br />
available to all those considering entering this exciting and vibrant livestock and fleece<br />
industry.
Your Judge<br />
Ron Reid<br />
Ron commenced breeding alpacas in February 1994 at Swan<br />
Valley <strong>Alpaca</strong> Stud, Henley Brook, Western Australia, which is<br />
located in <strong>the</strong> Swan Valley region and adjoins <strong>the</strong> upper reaches<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Swan River, approximately 40 minutes from <strong>the</strong> Perth<br />
CBD. Along with his wife, Rose, Ron runs approximately 100<br />
alpacas on <strong>the</strong>ir property, concentrating on quality bloodlines<br />
and has experienced excellent show results Australia-wide with<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir huacaya herd over <strong>the</strong> past 15 years.<br />
Ron qualified as an AAA Judge in 2002 and has judged at alpacas shows throughout <strong>Australian</strong> and<br />
also in New Zealand. In 2004, Ron attended <strong>the</strong> International <strong>Alpaca</strong> Judging School in Peru and<br />
qualified as an International <strong>Alpaca</strong> Judge.<br />
Since becoming a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> AAA in 1994, Ron has served as a Committee member in WA for 14<br />
years occupying <strong>the</strong> position <strong>of</strong> shows co-ordinator during that time as well as President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> WA<br />
Central <strong>Region</strong> in 2003/04.<br />
Ron thoroughly enjoys <strong>the</strong> role <strong>of</strong> alpaca judging as it has given him <strong>the</strong> opportunity to compare<br />
quality throughout <strong>Australian</strong> and overseas. It has also allowed him to meet numerous breeders, learn<br />
and share knowledge about <strong>the</strong>se interesting animals—<strong>Alpaca</strong>s.<br />

approximately one third Huacaya and two thirds Suri. Paul and Linda have concentrated on breeding white<br />
Huacayas but <strong>the</strong>ir Suri breeding has always been a mix <strong>of</strong> white and colours. Pac<strong>of</strong>ino uses top quality stud<br />
males resul�ng in consistent high quality show winning stock.

“Wyona <strong>Alpaca</strong> Stud” was <strong>the</strong> first alpaca stud to be established in <strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong> <strong>NSW</strong> in 1989. From our ini�al beginnings we concentrated on <strong>the</strong><br />
wondrous array <strong>of</strong> natural colours <strong>of</strong>fered exclusively within <strong>the</strong> alpaca breed. Wyona is located 40kms NW <strong>of</strong> Young, in mixed farming area. We<br />
farm our alpaca herd <strong>of</strong> 150, on a 2ooo acre property.<br />
Our aims & goals for this stud have been set high. With 5 genera�ons <strong>of</strong> fine fibre produc�on & animal husbandry in our veins, it has been <strong>the</strong><br />
melding <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se two assets that has brought “Wyona” alpacas to where <strong>the</strong>y are today.<br />
Having been ac�ve & highly successful in <strong>the</strong> show ring Australia wide, Karen is accredited to judge both within Australia and Interna�onally.<br />
“Wyona” strives to produce a consistency <strong>of</strong> fine micron fleece with a follicular density that is sustainable for our clima�c region. <strong>Alpaca</strong>s from<br />
“Wyona” are being bred to produce <strong>the</strong> best possible fleece on a strong, correct frame & with a gentle temperament.

Breeding grey and black for a coloured future.<br />
We are a small stud located just to <strong>the</strong> west side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dividing Range 22kms nor<strong>the</strong>ast <strong>of</strong> Braidwood on 100 acres.<br />
We specialize in silver grey and black huacaya but also enjoy o<strong>the</strong>r colours.<br />
We are keen on <strong>the</strong> animals and on <strong>the</strong>ir fleece. Both <strong>of</strong> us spin.<br />
Although we want to improve <strong>the</strong> alpacas in every way we can, we would like to produce nice‐looking, vigorous<br />
animals <strong>of</strong> silver grey and blue‐black colour with very even, so� fleeces, without hair, that remain good as <strong>the</strong> animal<br />

Marchmont Park is situated just 4 km from Yass Post Office and currently runs around 70 alpacas. We strive<br />
to breed happy and healthy animals with top quality fleece and sound temperaments. For <strong>the</strong> last two<br />
years, we have planned for a large percentage <strong>of</strong> coloured alpacas in our herd and are well on <strong>the</strong> way to<br />

males from two established breeders who are adherents to <strong>the</strong> SRS ® breeding system.<br />
Our first hembras (16) were purchased in 2008 from Northfield Gully <strong>Alpaca</strong>s toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> SRS ® recom‐<br />
