MEDIA INFORMATION<br />
Assistant athletic media relations director<br />
BURT LAUTEN handles all media-related requests<br />
regarding the women’s basketball team. Lauten<br />
can be reached at (412) 648-8240.<br />
MEDIA WILL CALL<br />
<strong>Media</strong> Will Call/<strong>Media</strong> Entrance will open one<br />
hour prior to tipoff. It is located at the Loading<br />
Dock Entrance off Sutherland Drive. All media<br />
members must pick up credentials and enter at<br />
<strong>Media</strong> Will Call. Due to time restraints, media<br />
credentials will not be mailed. Visiting radio may<br />
pick up their credentials on gameday as well or<br />
through their respective media relations contact.<br />
Once entering the building, proceed to the<br />
media relations area where you can access the<br />
Beano Cook <strong>Media</strong> Room, media interview room<br />
and press row. A media relations representative<br />
will be available at <strong>Media</strong> Will Call for assistance.<br />
PARKING<br />
Reserved parking passes may be obtained through<br />
the Athletic <strong>Media</strong> Relations Office. Parking accommodations<br />
are limited and all parking requests<br />
must be made at least 24 hours in advance.<br />
<strong>Media</strong> parking is located in the Y Lot. The Y<br />
Lot is located to the left off Darragh Street after<br />
passing the Darragh-Terrace Street intersection.<br />
Please call to confirm your parking space as a<br />
list will be at the Y Lot.<br />
INTERVIEW POLICY<br />
The athletic media relations office will assist<br />
media personnel with all coverage of <strong>Pittsburgh</strong><br />
women’s basketball. All interviews with studentathletes<br />
MUST be arranged through the Athletic<br />
<strong>Media</strong> Relations Office.<br />
<strong>Media</strong> representatives are welcome to cover<br />
<strong>Panthers</strong> women’s basketball practice, but they<br />
should notify Burt Lauten of the media relations office<br />
in advance for proper clearance. For interviews,<br />
please allow at least 24 hours for requests.<br />
Players’ telephone numbers will not be<br />
released by the Athletic <strong>Media</strong> Relations Office.<br />
MEMO TO THE MEDIA<br />
CREDENTIALS<br />
Credentials for <strong>Pittsburgh</strong> home games are<br />
issued to working media only and should be<br />
requested at least 24 hours in advance of the<br />
game in question. All credential requests should<br />
be made in writing on company letterhead and<br />
be directed to Burt Lauten, Assistant <strong>Media</strong><br />
Relations Director, University of <strong>Pittsburgh</strong>, P.O.<br />
Box 7436, <strong>Pittsburgh</strong>, PA 15213.<br />
Only web sites of each participating institution<br />
with contractual rights and accredited news web<br />
sites will be issued credentials.<br />
PHOTOGRAPHERS<br />
Still photographers and TV news cameramen<br />
will receive a media pass and will be assigned a<br />
position on the floor at the baseline. Photographers<br />
are asked to stay in the space designated. Be<br />
prepared to show your I.D. if asked to identify<br />
yourself. No strobe lights are allowed in the arena.<br />
BROADCAST INFORMATION<br />
All broadcast or telecast rights must be cleared<br />
through the Athletic <strong>Media</strong> Relations Office.<br />
Visiting radio will be issued space on the Club<br />
Level (CL) in section 108. One ISDN line and one<br />
analog line will be available for broadcast. To access<br />
the visiting radio area, enter at <strong>Media</strong> Will Call<br />
and take the elevator located outside the <strong>Media</strong><br />
Relations Office to the Club Level (CL). Once off the<br />
elevator, proceed left to Section 108 at midcourt.<br />
There will be a $100 charge for non-conference<br />
opponents.<br />

TELEPHONES<br />
A total of 10 phone lines for media use will be<br />
available following the game either in the Beano<br />
Cook <strong>Media</strong> Room or on Press Row.<br />
POSTGAME PROCEDURE<br />
After a 10-minute “cooling off” period, requested<br />
players and Coach Berenato will be brought to the<br />
interview room on the Event Level of the Petersen<br />
Events Center. The visiting coach and players will<br />
also be available.<br />
The <strong>Pittsburgh</strong> locker room is closed to the media.<br />
PITTSBURGH MEDIA SERVICES<br />
<strong>Media</strong> members can access the most up-to-date<br />
information on the <strong>Pittsburgh</strong> women’s basketball<br />
team on the athletic department’s web site:<br />
www.pittsburghpanthers.com. Game notes, statistics<br />
and general releases will be updated regularly.<br />
BIG EAST MEDIA COVERAGE<br />
The Big East Conference maintains a comprehensive<br />
site on the world wide web at www.bigeast.org.<br />
For basketball, standings, notes, schedules/results<br />
and statistics for every team are updated on a<br />
daily basis. A record section and photo gallery is<br />
also available with photos that may be downloaded<br />
for media use. In addition, in-game scores for all<br />
basketball contests involving Big East teams will<br />
