Whatever a wetsuit company’s
claim 90% of all wetsuit
manufacturers, including all the
big boys, use the same neoprene
from Yamamoto in Japan. They all
have their own marketing speak to
differentiate the same material.
Fact is it’s the positioning of the
materials and the fit that make the
suits different. You need buoyancy
on the front of the wetsuit and
flexibility under the arm and across
the shoulders. It’s that simple.
Seams and coloured panels reduce
flexibility, so be careful of great
looking wetsuits that feature large
panels of colour. Also beware of
wetsuits that feature seams that
run across the front and back
(especially near the zip) as this will
reduce flexibility and subsequently
your distance per stroke.
2XU have employed basic principles
that equate to amazingly flexible
and buoyant wetsuits.
All our wetsuits use 39 cell
neoprene, which is the most
buoyant neoprene available, for
the front buoyancy panel. This is
combined with the most flexible
materials and lining available for the
shoulders and underarms. They also
feature a floating zip panel and a
one piece shoulder to wrist panel -
all of which equates to our wetsuits
having the best possible flexibility.
Then there is our proprietary Rollbar
technology: A buoyant panel cleverly
designed to keep your hips higher in
the water as you plunge forward in
your swim stroke.
