Stacked Rumford Fireplaces
Building fireplaces that share a chimney and foundations is a good way to cut the cost of
masonry fireplaces. For example, a 30" fireplace upstairs in a bedroom would only add to
the cost of a firebox and a few flue liners. Any additional cost to the chimney or foundation
would be minimal. Adding flues to the chimney stack is an economical way to vent other
appliances like furnaces or hot water tanks.
