Building upon the CUI Framework established in 2008, the Task Force has proposed 40 Recommendations intended to enhance Standardization, Information Sharing, Government Transparency, and the Protection of Information only where there is a compelling requirement to do so, including simplifying the definition of CUI; expanding the scope of the CUI Framework; clarifying that CUI markings have no bearing on releases either under the Freedom of Information Act or to Congress; and phasing implementation of the expanded scope of CUI. viii
