Happily for me, those three roles are filled by one person. Listeners to my podcast, Lifespring!, know her as the Lovely Lady LeeAnn. I am deeply indebted to her for the many good things she has brought into my life by her grace, her beauty and her patience. She is the quintessential Proverbs 31 woman. My three sons, Matthew, Steven and Timothy have sacrificed time with me while I have worked on this book. They have also served to remind me that each of us is a work in progress. I love each of them and am thankful that they are all serving God. Del Brixey invited me to visit his church when we were high school chums. I was not yet a Christian, but his boldness in asking me to come along with him to that small church in Rowland Heights, California, brought me to the place where I ultimately surrendered my life to a personal and loving Savior and God, Jesus Christ. I am deeply sorry that over the years I have forgotten the name of the man who was my pastor in 1976-77 at Mammoth Community Church. It was from him that I learned that God has a job for each person in the local church. I taught my first Bible study at that little church at the foot of Mammoth Mountain, California. I doubt this book would have been written without this man’s teaching that formed an important part of my foundational faith. Mel Bennett was my pastor for nearly twenty years. His generosity in allowing me to use Calvary Temple’s audio equipment to start the world’s first Christian podcast was certainly a key to beginning the career that has brought me to the place where I became aware of the need for this book. I have learned much about steadfast, rock solid integrity from my current pastor, Steve O’Brien. Since he is also my brother-in-law, I have been blessed and inspired as I see that he lives his life with consistency. The man in the pulpit is the same man at home. So many other people have contributed to this book, as they have touched my life in important ways. Here are but a few of them: Rip and JoAnn Collins, Mark Beebout, Randy Collins, Ron Ploof, Craig Patchett, James Cooper, Bryan Duncan, and Allen P. Johnston. I am unspeakably grateful that God brought each of these incredible people into my life at just the right times. Their friendship and example changed my life.
