Rich Armandi (Judge/Lyceum)<br />
Richard Armandi is one of the most versatile and in-demand musicians and educators on the Chicago<br />
scene today. As a jazz bassist he has performed with such luminaries as Jamey Aebersold, Carl<br />
Fontana and many others, and has performed with such stars as Rosemary Clooney, Bob Newhart,<br />
Martin Short and many others. As a tubist he has performed with the Lyric Opera, Grant Park<br />
Orchestra, and as featured soloist with the New Philharmonic, Concordia University Wind Ensemble,<br />
and at the 1992 International Tuba-Euphonium Conference. He has been recorded on many album<br />
projects and on many commercial jingles. He is in constant demand as a bassist and tubist in almost<br />
every conceivable musical genre. As an educator he currently serves on the faculties of College of<br />
DuPage (Glen Ellyn, IL), Triton College (River Grove, IL), and St. Xavier University (Chicago, IL)<br />
teaching bass, low brass, jazz combo and improvisation.<br />

Frank Alongi (Clinician/Lyceum)<br />
Drummer extraordinaire Frank Alongi has been creating music professionally for many years. He is a<br />
clinician for Innovative Percussion and does percussion workshops in the Chicagoland area for high<br />
schools and other various educational settings. Frank currently directs the Cooper Middle School<br />
Percussion Ensemble in Buffalo Grove, IL, where he also maintains a successful private studio. He<br />
performs with several groups in the area including his fusion quartet The Renegades, Sundance, and<br />
directs the Latin jazz ensemble Caribe.<br />
Vins Johnson (Clinician/Lyceum)<br />
Vins is a professional tenor saxophone player who resides in the Chicago area. He has played with<br />
several bands in the area including the Chicago Grandstand Big Band and the Chicago Skyliners Big<br />
Band. While playing with the First U.S. Army Band in the 1960’s, Vins played in Washington DC and<br />
met Byron Morris and Gerald Wise. Later, these three along with Jimmy Lewis and Lenny Martin began<br />
a jazz group called The Unit Five. Along with his many performances and recordings, Vins, also,<br />
currently teaches private saxophone lessons at <strong>Glenbrook</strong> South High School.<br />
