KENNEDY VFD ANNIVERSARY T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE
The Kennedy Volunteer Fire Department is selling special
t-shirts to commemorate the 75 th anniversary of the fire company.
The shirts are $10 each, and $12 for sizes 2x and 3x. To order the

CRESCENT TOWNSHIP CHANGES SCHEDULE
Changes have been announced in the Crescent Township
meeting schedule. All meetings going forward are scheduled for
the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. as follows:
September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13.
CLEARVIEW ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
Clearview Federal Credit Union announces the winners of the
2012 Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship. Each of the following
winners was awarded a $1,250 scholarship to use toward their
college education: Lindsay Chandler of Avon Grove High School;
Natalie Hetu of Saint Joseph High School; Courtney Olesky of
Penn Trafford High School; Vaughan Sulkava of Moon Area High
School, and Kayla Summer of South Lake Christian Academy in
Cornelius, North Carolina.
This was the 13th Annual Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship. The
scholarship is in honor of Ralph B. Canterbury’s outstanding
service and loyalty to the credit union during his 34-year tenure.
GIRL SCOUTS HONOR SUPER SELLER
On Saturday, August 18, the Girl Scouts of Western
Pennsylvania celebrated the 100 th anniversary of Girl Scouting.
As part of that celebration the top sellers of Girl Scout cookies
were invited to a cruise on the Gateway Clipper ship, The
Princess.
Stephanie Herron of Kennedy Township was
one of the attendees. Stephanie, daughter of
Harry and Donna Herron, is a junior at Montour
High School. Stephanie is a member of the
Montour swim team, Montour girls volleyball
team, and the Montour choir. She is active in her
church youth group and plays softball for
Kennedy Township.
As a Girl Scout member for 11 years, Stephanie is a Girl Scout
Ambassador of Troop 51429. She has consistently been the top
cookie seller in her troop. This year Stephanie sold 745 boxes of
cookies.
Stephanie has also earned the Girl Scout Silver Award and is
currently working on the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest
award in Girl Scouting.
ASCENSION WELCOMES NEW PASTOR
Ascension Lutheran Church recently welcomed its new pastor,
Reverend Joseph Murdy. He grew up on
the North Side, graduating from Shaler
High school, then attended Thiel College
in Greenville, studying Theology and
Psychology. Most recently, he graduated
from the Theological Seminary at
Gettysburg. He then served an internship
