chip multithreading (CMT) processor<br />

A single processor capable of executing multiple threads simultaneously. While one thread waits<br />

for memory, the CPU remains busy executing other threads.<br />

core<br />

A hardware execution pipeline and associated structures that actually perform the execution of a<br />

software thread.<br />

CPU<br />

A central processing unit, also called a processor or chip.<br />

A square of silicon that contains a CPU.<br />

multicore processor<br />

A processor incorporating more than one core.<br />

multithreaded processor<br />
