STEINER EDUCATION
Our school’s approach to organisational management
The work of our teachers is supported by an organisational structure that is responsive
to the need for both individual responsibility and a sharing of de ci sion-making.
This is represented by a governance approach in which our Board (on behalf of the
Rudolf Steiner Education Group Brisbane Inc.) carries overall legal re spon si bil i ty for
the school as a public educational institution. The Board ensures on behalf of the
children that quality development occurs in appropriate ways.
Our Board makes a strong and visible commitment to the welfare of the school
and the whole school community by providing the means for the development and
upholding of policies which enable both individual and collective endeavours for the
school’s development to be pursued to the fullest extent possible.
Our Board delegates its educational and operational functions to the Managers/
Facilitators and College/Faculty of the school through an approved process of
facilitated shared decision-making. In this process, mandates confer responsibility
for decision-making and creative change, and regular reporting enables mon i tor ing
of performance.
Our Board, on behalf of the whole school community, also provides the practical
means of support for the education in the areas of fi nance, legal and contractual
matters, buildings, maintenance, administration, materials, health and safety, and
insurance.
The importance of community to our school
The students of our school are best supported by a strong parent community which
values respectful, inclusive, co-operative and conscious relationships and whose
members are striving for increased self-knowledge and for an un der stand ing of the
basis of the education.
As a community of teachers and parents, we strive to have a positive moral infl uence
on our students through our modelling of relationships that are based on respect,
honesty and integrity.
Our school environment
In the provision of facilities we place emphasis on a healthy environment.
We provide natural and healthy material classroom resources, which stimulate
im ag i na tion and further transformation either through imaginative play or
creative work.
Our buildings and grounds combine harmonious form, beauty, and functionality
and refl ect the inner qualities they aim to foster. Our grounds are developed and
maintained using practices that bring renewal to the earth.
