have a great time. I got a great Miranda Throckmorton and
Arin McIntosh t-shirt there last year and they were both there
to autograph them for me.
A couple of other things in this writing to bring to your
attention are our ads. We run these ads to promote our
friends and sponsors and to help you race fans make your
Christmas lists. I think we all know someone who would love
the new Dick Wallen book Hard Driving Men images of
speed 1895-1960 or Dave Argabrights latest great writing
about Doug Wolf Gang (soon to be released is his and Pat
Sullivans’ book about Joie Ray). Dick has sent us a copy of
Hard Driving Men images of speed 1895-1960 and it will
be in the Silent Auction room at the banquet (even though I
really wanna keep it for myself) but why wait, order yours for
a great gift (or be selfish and keep it for yourself), and Dave
always sends us a couple of his great works for the banquet
(usually signed by both himself and the subject). Also, great
new books are available from Buzz Rose. But if books
aren’t for you, don’t forget to do some Christmas shopping
at my 2 favorite stores... Gearheads (outside the front gate
of ORP) or Everything Racing (at the corner of High School
Rd. and Crawfordsville Rd.). Everyone needs racing stuff for
Christmas! And if they already have everything they need,
re-new their subscription to SpeedSport News, still the best
mail you’ll ever get....and every week!
One last note before I go and probably the most important
item in this newsletter and that is the HARF “Hall of Fame”
nomination form on page 4. This is your opportunity to
honor someone in racing who richly deserves a place in our
Hall of Fame. We take all the nominees and place them on
a ballot for our entire membership to vote on, then we place
the top “2” vote recipients into our Hall of Fame during our
Banquet,January 27, 2008. It’s an award and honor that
means so much to the recipient who is a trend setter or
history maker in auto racing. So look thru the names who
are already in our Hall and let us know who we have left out.
We hope to make January 27th, 2008 a special day in their
racing lives and give them the honor they greatly deserve.
So, in closing, I hope you all had a great year of racing
and hope you can join us at either the Monte Carlo,
November 17th, or the Hoosier Racers Swap Meet (www.
shoestringracing.com), January 26 th , 2008, or our 56th
Annual Awards Banquet January 27 th , 2008.
Don’t stay all cooped up this winter, come out and join us
at one of or all of our fun events. It’ll make the winter go by
faster.
