■ 6,000 schools have been proposed to be set up at block level as<br />

model schools in the 12 th Five Year Plan (2012-17).<br />

■ Rs 3,124 crore (approx. US$ 560 million) have been provided for<br />

the RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan), which is an<br />

increase of 29% over BE 2011-12.<br />

■ In order to ensure a better flow of credit to students, a Credit<br />

Guarantee Fund has been proposed.<br />

Skill Development<br />

■ National Skill Development Corporation has approved projects<br />

that are expected to train 62 million people at the end of 10 years.<br />

■ The National Skill Development Fund has been allocated<br />

Rs 1,000 crore (approx. US$ 180 million) for the period 2012-13.<br />

■ To improve the flow of institutional credit for skill development, a<br />

separate Credit Guarantee Fund will be set up.<br />

■ “Himayat” scheme introduced in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to<br />

provide skill training to 100,000 youth during the next 5 years and<br />

the entire cost will be borne by the Government of India.<br />

Healthcare<br />

India is one of the world’s most lucrative healthcare markets, and is<br />

expanding rapidly, according to latest findings by a report published<br />

in February 2012, by market research firm RNCOS. India is the<br />

most competitive destination with advantages of lower cost and<br />

sophisticated treatments, according to RNCOS report titled ‘Indian<br />

Healthcare - New Avenues for Growth’.<br />

The Indian healthcare industry estimated at US$ 40 billion in 2010 is<br />

expected to reach US$ 280 billion by 2020.<br />

The report further highlighted that several key trends are backing<br />

the growth of India’s healthcare sector. Of these, medical city is<br />

relatively a new concept that offers immense growth opportunities.<br />

Likewise, there is a huge potential for day-care surgeries. Almost<br />

60% of all surgeries can be done in a daycare mode with the current<br />

infrastructure support.<br />
