Dear reader,
NATO School
Community Bulletin September 2005 Edition
From the Editor
Again a bulletin filled with lots of interesting stories and information. The longest story in this bulletin was
submitted by Major Jan Kars who led the 2005 NATO School Summer Training. It gives you a good
impression about the activities we did during the week in the mountains of Berchtesgaden. Even though we
had five centimeters of snow on the day we departed for Oberammergau, we had a fantastic week. By
reading the story we hope that more people will sign up for next year’s edition of Summer Training.
There is also a long list of activities planned by the NATO Recreation Center staff, not all details were known
by the time this bulletin was printed but just give them a call when you would like more information about one
of the many events that they organize.
The Red Cross Station in Oberammergau invites you and your family on Saturday, 17 September 2005 to
the large parking lot beneath the Kolben ski area. They hold an ‘open house’ where you can see all aspects
about the Red Cross station and the important work they do for you and me when we need them.
I am off on a first of two sailing vacations and a two week course in Switzerland. By the time these three
events are over it is time to think which tie to wear for the 2005 Commandant’s Christmas Dinner, which
takes place on Saturday, 10 December 2005. Yes, it is less than one hundred days until Christmas.
Just so you know.
Enjoy reading this bulletin!
