Time Marches On…
Just in case you weren't feeling too old
today, this will certainly change things.
The people who are starting college this fall
or joining the various service organizations
across the nation were born in 1987 or
1988.
1. They
are too
young to
remember
the space
shuttle blowing up.
2. Their lifetime has always included
AIDS.
3. The CD was introduced the year
they were born.
4. They have always had an answering
machine.
(ROTC Army Day Festivities - continued from page 1)
me. If you will notice in paragraph 2 of the article in
the Norwood Park Citizen, it states that the ROTC
Unit was preparing to march in the Chicago Army
Day parade. Well, the enclosed picture taken by my
cousin Lloyd [Wevang - class of February
1957]…was of me marching down Michigan Blvd.
that day with the new sword. How about that for a tie
in?”
Our sincere thanks to Lloyd and his youngest sister,
Margit Wevang of the class of June 1962 for being
the catalysts in steering Ted to contact us about this
long lost treasure and piece of Taft history.
The Taft Alumni Association is currently working
with Taft Principal Dr. Art Tarvardian to procure a
permanent location to display this sword. It needs to
be again put in a place of honor for current and future
students of William Howard Taft High School.
5. They have always had cable.
6. Jay Leno has always been on the
Tonight Show.
7. Popcorn has always been cooked in
the microwave.
8. They never took a swim and thought
about Jaws!
9. They don't know who Mork was or
where he was from.
10. They never heard: "Where's the
Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel",
or "de plane Boss, de plane".
11. McDonald's never came in
Styrofoam containers.
12. They don't have a clue how to use a
typewriter.
Do you feel old yet? - (Sorry) - Pass this on
to the other old fogies you know. Notice the
larger type, that's for those of you who
have trouble reading.
Save the earth. It's the only planet with
chocolate and wine.
