closure is that the County gave employees our two December furlough days together right before our<br />
normal Christmas holidays of the 24th and 25th. Combine that <strong>with</strong> our regular days that we are closed<br />
and it makes quite a long stretch.We understand everyone’s frustration and trust me when I say it is not<br />
easyonthestaffeither.Weworkatotherlibrarieswhen<strong>theRanchos</strong>Libraryisclosed,butnoneedtoworry:<br />
items that are checked out in December will show a due date of 12/29 which is our next open day.You<br />

BirdsofPreyProgram<br />
CatKrosschell,afalconerandnaturalist,broughtthreeofhermagnificentbirdsofpreytothelibrary<br />
for a special program on Nov. 18. Her great-horned owl, peregrine falcon and red-tail hawk were a delighttoseeupcloseinalltheirfeatheredglory.Welearnedmanynewfactsaboutthesebirdsandwereable<br />
toaskCatquestionsabouthabitat,feedingandparenting.Andbecausethebirdsareaccustomedtogroups<br />
of people flashing cameras at them and making bothersome human noise and movement, they politely<br />
cast their piercing eyes upon us and spread theirwings as if to remindus of just how amazing theytruly<br />
are. Hopefully, Cat will return next year.We are grateful for her time and effort to bring this program to<br />
our<strong>com</strong>munity.<br />

Watching the children decorate the tree was the most fascinating<br />
for many of us. They were all quite patient in taking<br />
turns on the ladder to reach the highest part of the tree <strong>with</strong><br />
their selected ornaments.Amazingly, it ended up being a<br />
