Lutheran Hour Ministries extends reach of The Lutheran Hour®
R TEXAS DISTRICT
with major satellite network partnership
In 2011, Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) entered
into a three-year extension to air The Lutheran
Hour ® radio program through Christian Satellite Network
(CSN) International, expanding by more than
30 percent the number of stations over which the program
can be heard. The program will now be carried
on more than 1,350 stations across North America.
CSN International has broadcast Christian radio via
satellite since April 1995 and is owned by Christian
Broadcasters of Idaho. Station KAWZ-FM, Twin Falls,
Idaho serves as the satellite uplink. KAWZ’s programming
is fed nationwide to 24 full power FM stations
and more than 375 broadcast relay stations known as
translators. CSN estimates its typical listening audience
nationwide to be approximately 2 to 3 million
people.
“We felt that The Lutheran Hour’s traditional style
of preaching and teaching would be a perfect fit for
the Sunday morning time slot when people are getting
ready or going to church,” said CSN’s programming
director, Don Mills. “But with listeners now hearing
CSN’s streamed broadcasts via iPhones, Blackberries
and other hand-held devices, The Lutheran Hour ®
will probably also be reaching people whose Sunday
morning routine is very different.”
The Lutheran Hour ® airs simultaneously on CSN
affiliates every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Eastern
Time, 9 a.m. Central Time, 8 a.m. Mountain Time and
7 a.m. Pacific Time. A listing of CSN stations is available

States Ministries, added, “Our partnership with Christian
Satellite Network brings the message of salvation
by grace through faith to an audience of tens of thousands.
This message brings spiritual life to the ‘lost’
and strengthens the believer in faith. This partnership
also brings coverage to key areas that were not receiving
our broadcast in the past.”
