Hilltop Artists<br />

OPEN NOW THROUGH SEPTEMBER 5<br />

<strong>The</strong> Hilltop Artists are a Cincinnati-based group which maintains a membership <strong>of</strong><br />

about eighteen pr<strong>of</strong>essional women artists. <strong>The</strong> club was established 53 years ago and<br />

has held a standard <strong>of</strong> excellence over the years. <strong>The</strong> original members were residents<br />

in and around the College Hill area, hence the name Hilltop Artist. Exhibited works<br />

will include watercolor, oil, pen & ink, color pencil, fabric collage, enamel, monotype<br />

and monoprint.<br />

4th Annual Community Showcase<br />

OPENING SEPTEMBER 19 THROUGH NOVEMBER 7<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Fairfield</strong> Community Arts Center sponsors the annual<br />

Community Showcase designed to provide an opportunity<br />

for emerging area artists. Some <strong>of</strong> the best that Greater<br />

Cincinnati has to <strong>of</strong>fer is highlighted in artwork from all<br />

ages and experience levels. Local artists, ages 18 or older,<br />

who have not previously had a private showing and reside<br />

within 50 miles <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fairfield</strong> will take part in the juried<br />

competition.<br />

Opening reception September 18 from 6 - 8pm with light refreshments.<br />

Take a few minutes out <strong>of</strong> your busy holiday schedule to view the work <strong>of</strong> artists<br />

Rebecca Barker and Shirley Salsinger. In<br />

Rebecca Barker’s remarkable and<br />

colorful acrylic paintings, called<br />

“Quiltscapes,” traditional quilts are<br />

blended into images <strong>of</strong> landscapes,<br />

seascapes, still life, and farm scenes.<br />

Shirley Salsinger, in contrast, works with<br />

watercolor and colored pencil in her quiet<br />

wintry snow scenes and s<strong>of</strong>t furry pet<br />

portraits. Each evokes impressions <strong>of</strong> the<br />

pleasant and positive places that form the<br />

patchwork <strong>of</strong> our lives.<br />

Opening reception November 20 from 6 - 8pm with light refreshments.<br />

To ensure that adequate blood supplies are<br />

readily on hand for any emergency, the<br />

Community Blood Center, the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Fairfield</strong>, and the Parks and Recreation<br />

Department are sponsoring a series <strong>of</strong><br />

community blood drives at the <strong>Fairfield</strong><br />

Community Arts Center, 411 Wessel Drive.<br />

Bagels from Panera Bread and other<br />

refreshments will be available to all donors.<br />

PERFORMING ARTS • EXHIBITS<br />

RENTAL OF PARK FACILITIES<br />

Whether your need is for a social gathering or<br />

business meeting, <strong>Fairfield</strong> facilities <strong>of</strong>fer a variety<br />

<strong>of</strong> venues to ensure the success <strong>of</strong> your event. For<br />

information, call 867-5348.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Community Arts Center adjacent to the<br />

beautiful Village Green Park provides catering and<br />

accommodations for groups up to 240.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Fairfield</strong> Greens/South Trace Clubhouse<br />

provides a setting overlooking the golf course for<br />

groups up to 100.<br />

<strong>The</strong> historic Elisha Morgan Farm Mansion in<br />

Gilbert Farms Park provides a quiet location for<br />

smaller groups up to 85.<br />

During the warm summer months, the <strong>Fairfield</strong><br />

Aquatic Center is available for rent after regular<br />

hours.<br />

Park shelters may also be reserved for family<br />

events.<br />
