Another advantage of the pre-reformer is that it transforms all higher<br />
hydrocarbons to methane, and performs part of the reforming reactions, thus<br />
producing some hydrogen. These two actions enable the increase of the<br />
preheating temperature of the process gas, and also the reduction of the<br />
steam carbon ratio, therefore reducing the energy consumption of the<br />
primary reforming section.<br />
