Society of Plastic Surgeons.
It appears that the financial success of the Congress
guarantees IPRAS an amount that exceeds 200.000
CAD (50% of the net income). This amount gives
IPRAS the potential to reinforce its management and
humanitarian activities for the period 2011-2012.
The Confederation’s Management Office (ZITA
Congress) manned the mission to Vancouver with a group
of 8 people. They staffed the beautiful booths of IPRAS,
Chile 2013 and the 1 st European-Chinese Congress that
will take place in October 2011. The IPRAS Executive
Director, Mr. Zacharias Kaplanidis and the Assistant
Executive Director, Mrs. Maria Petsa participated and
organized 14 meetings of the Board of Directors, the
Executive Committee, the National Delegate Council,
Sub-Committees etc. It was a difficult and demanding
task, met with absolute success. Many thanks are in
order for all the Management Office staff as well as the
Congress Organizers for their precious help.
As you may well know, Vancouver was the place where
the selection procedures for the host countries for
the 2015 and 2017 IPRAS World Congresses were
completed.

Following a flawless election procedure, the countries
that were chosen to host the 2 world congresses were
China (Shanghai) for 2015, and Belgium (Brussels) for
2017. We congratulate both and we wholeheartedly wish
both National Associations every success. We would also
like to thank and congratulate the rest of the candidates
for their excellent presentations. Namely, the President
of the Hellenic Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and
Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Apostolos Mandrekas, the
President of the Indonesian Society, Prof. Theddeus
Prasetyono, Prof. Reha Yavuzer of the Turkish Society
and Prof. Nicolo Scuderi from the Italian Society
together will their assisting teams. It is our belief that all
the above countries are perfect for the organization of a
future IPRAS World Congress. We encourage them to
try again reminding them that Chile is not that far away
chronologically.

Closing the Vancouver chapter, we would like to wish
every success in their difficult and strenuous work to all
the new “faces” in the IPRAS administration, starting
with the new General Secretary, Dr. Nelson Piccolo
(Brazil), and the new Deputy General Secretaries, Prof.
Yilin Cao (China), Prof. Ahmed Noreldin (Egypt)
and Prof. Andreas Yiacoumettis (Greece). Many more
positions were filled with esteemed surgeons like our new
Parliamentarian Prof. Norbert Pallua (Germany), the
head of the IPRAS Foundation Dr. Christian Echinard
(France), the President of the newly established
(and IPRAS Organized) ISPRES Prof. Gino Rigotti
(Italy), the President of the Scientific Advisory Board
Prof. Daniel Marchac (France), and of course the 1 st
President of IPRAS Prof. Marita Eisenmann-Klein
(Germany). Furthermore, in this new era of IPRAS, we
wish every success to the Deputy General Secretary Dr.
Brian Kinney and the precious and very experienced
treasurer Dr. Bruce Cunningham.
