El Estudio SLAM ha recibido una beca <strong>de</strong> ayuda a la investigación <strong>de</strong> la Fundación Sánchez Villares 2011
Objetivos<br />
1. An<strong>al</strong>izar la distribución y frecuencia <strong>de</strong> los episodios <strong>de</strong><br />
sibilantes (EDS) en los primeros tres años <strong>de</strong> edad<br />
2. Determinar el riesgo <strong>de</strong> <strong>asma</strong> activo a los 6 años en función<br />
<strong>de</strong> la edad <strong>de</strong> inicio <strong>de</strong> los EDS y otras variables<br />
3. Establecer el punto <strong>de</strong> corte <strong>de</strong> la edad <strong>de</strong> inicio <strong>de</strong> EDS que<br />
i<strong>de</strong>ntifica mejor a los niños que tendrán <strong>asma</strong> activo a los 6<br />
años

Estudio <strong>de</strong> cohortes históricas<br />
Multicéntrico, re<strong>al</strong>izado en 29 consultas pediátricas <strong>de</strong><br />
atención primaria en Asturias<br />
Registro <strong>de</strong> todos los episodios <strong>de</strong> <strong>sibilancias</strong> i<strong>de</strong>ntificadas<br />
por un médico en los primeros 3 años<br />
Registro <strong>de</strong> <strong>asma</strong> activo a los 6 años

Conclusiones<br />
1. La prev<strong>al</strong>encia <strong>de</strong> <strong>sibilancias</strong> y <strong>sibilancias</strong> recurrentes en<br />
menores <strong>de</strong> 3 años es elevada.<br />
2. Los niños sin EDS tienen menos riesgo <strong>de</strong> <strong>asma</strong> a los 6 años<br />
3. Los niños con <strong>asma</strong> activo a los 6 años tienen mas EDS ya<br />
<strong>de</strong>s<strong>de</strong> el primer trimestre.<br />
4. La aparición <strong>de</strong>l primer EDS a partir <strong>de</strong> los 12 meses,<br />
incrementa el riesgo <strong>de</strong> <strong>asma</strong> a los 6 años, que es mayor<br />
cuanto mas tardíos son los episodios.<br />
5. La prev<strong>al</strong>encia <strong>de</strong> <strong>asma</strong> a los 6 años es mayor que en<br />
encuestas previas
