candidates go to Mahanje for the Augustinian
experience during the month of December. Br.
Sylvanus Lyaruu was having holiday at this
time. So there were only two members of the
community, that is, Fr. Thobias Amuko and Fr.
Xavery Kassase. There is one special pastoral
activity which the Parish of Mahanje has
started under the community of Mahanje.
They have opened a new outstation which is
called Ndelenyuma. The outstation is situated
along Songea Road and it is after the
outstation of Rutukila. The parish will be
having five outstations now, namely, Madaba,
Templo de Mkolani, en Mwanza

The festivity and excitement of Christmas are
not the only things that rule the household. The
community of Mavurunza was busy at this
time with the celebration of Christmas in all
the outstations of the parish. Apart from
celebrating Christmas, they were and are
continuously busy with the constructions of the
permanent churches of the outstations of
Temboni, Tagaste and Matosa. The outstation of
Nzasa is also about to start the construction of
the new church.
The community of St. Augustine
Parish-Mkolani, Mwanza
celebrated Christmas with two
special events. First of all on the
Vigil of Christmas they had the
mass at the Parish and at the
outstation of Buhongwa. On the
Christmas day the masses were
celebrated in all the outstations.
On the 26 th December they
celebrated the feast of St.
Stephen, the first martyr. They
have chosen St. Stephen to be the
patron saint of the Catechists of
the Parish. Thus, on this day, they
celebrated the feast with the
catechists and their families. On
the 28 th they celebrated the feast
of the Holy Innocents. They
celebrated this feast in the
afternoon with the children. They
have also chosen the Holy
Innocents to be the patron saints
of the “Utoto Mtakatifu”, that is,
the Holy Childhood association.
Finally we would like to thank
who in one way or another have
worked with us either physically
or spiritually. May God bless them
all. We are wishing everyone a
