162 JOSÉ MARÍA SECADES DEL RIVERO Nacido en Oviedo el día 10 de septiembre de 1785, Secades llegó a ser director general de Rentas sirviendo a la Administración Pública, habiéndosele concedido la jubilación el 18 de enero de 1857. Previamente ocupó plazas de oficial de Rentas Reales, secretario de Su Majestad, y jefe de sección del Ministerio de Hacienda. En su faceta de legislador diremos que, en la legislatura de 1841 a 1842, fue diputado por su ciudad natal. Del 19 de agosto al 11 de septiembre de 1840, después de Santillán, asumió la cartera de Hacienda con carácter interino, en los momentos en que la salida de la Reina Gobernadora, María Cristina, dejó el poder en manos del primer equipo progresista de la Regencia del General Espartero. También fue en aquellas fechas, de manera coyuntural, ministro de Gobernación y ministro de Gracia y Justicia.
