SYMPLICITY HTN-3<br />

– To <strong>de</strong>monstrate that catheter-based <strong>r<strong>en</strong>al</strong> <strong>de</strong>nervation is a safe and effective<br />

treatm<strong>en</strong>t for uncontrolled hypert<strong>en</strong>sion<br />

• Study Popu<strong>la</strong>tion<br />

– Uncontrolled hypert<strong>en</strong>sion popu<strong>la</strong>tion<br />

• SBP ≥160 mmHg <strong>de</strong>spite maximally tolerated doses of ≥3 antihypert<strong>en</strong>sive<br />

medication c<strong>la</strong>sses<br />

• Without significant <strong>r<strong>en</strong>al</strong> impairm<strong>en</strong>t (eGFR > 45mL/min)<br />

– 530 randomized subjects at 60 sites<br />

• Randomization (2:1)<br />

• All pati<strong>en</strong>ts maintained on baseline meds for 6 months<br />
