Crónicas de las Comunidades ENERO 42 MARZO Delegation of India EDACOCHIN THE Minor seminarians came back after the Christmas vacation and their return early in January 2010 marked the beginning of a prosperous new year. The Aspirants really looked recharged enough after their vacation and they were raring to go for everything best that will come their way. The rays of Hope, whispers of confidence, cry for success and hunger for the best seem to loom over the air around the seminary. The beginning of a New Year was incidentally coinciding with the final Semester of an Academic Year. The Aspirants got themselves focused sharply o their studies straightaway after their Christmas Celebrations as they were slowly drawing near to their Annual Examinations in March. Their classes were over by the end of February which was followed by a month long Study-Leave for the Preparation of Annual Exam. The Aspirants went for a one-day pilgrimage to Vagamon Mount Valley in Kottayam on 27 th February 2010. It was quite inspirational for all of them to visit the Monastery of Benedictine Hermits and spend a little time with the monks of the Monastery. On the way back from the beautiful valley of Vagamon, we visited the Tomb of St. Alphonsa at Bharananganam at Kottayam as well. The Aspirants had finished their Annual Exams by 27 th March and they headed for their long summer vacation on 28 th March. It is certain that their absence will surely make the seminary bit monotonous as well as lifeless for sometime right from now. St. Antony’s shrine also had a few programs to make us busy over the last three months. A week long feast in honor of St. Antony preceded by nine-days of Novena was the highlight of all programs at St. Antony’s Shrine. Seminaristas de Edacochín en una excursión Thousands of faithful were visiting and pleading the intercession of St. Antony. A handful of well-known preachers of Cochin diocese and neighboring dioceses provided thoughtprovoking homilies during the course of festal celebrations. Moreover, we arranged a one day pilgrimage to St. Alphonsa’s tomb at Kottayam for the laity closely working with us at St. Antony’s Church. ALUVA The Major Seminarians returned back home after the Christmas vacation in the first week of January. The brothers were put into their busy life as soon as they reopened their theological studies. Meanwhile Dn. Marydas Arackal, who had completed his theological Studies in December 2009, was assigned to the House of Edacochin, to partake and help in the liturgical ceremonies of St. Antony’s Shrine and for giving classes to the minor seminarians of the House. Mary Queen Church at Aluva which is taken care by the community at Aluva in the Person of Fr. Jolly Enamavunkal had celebrated a week long feast in honor of Our Lady of and St. Sebastian in early days of January. Fr. Francis Kothakath, who was away from the House for two months to collaborate with the Vicariate of Intramurus, returned back from the Philippines
2010 PROVINCIA DE FILIPINAS Boletín Informativo 43 and rejoined the community of Aluva. The professed brothers along with Fr. Robert Roy, Prior of the House went for a Pilgrimage to St. Sebastian’s Church, Arthunkal on 21 st January 2010. POLLACHI Our Higher Secondary school in Pollachi, which is slowly and steadily becoming to be one of the best learning centers in the region, is heading towards the close of the academic year with its annual examinations in March and April. The Higher Secondary students have already finished their higher secondary exams. The rest of the students have already done their Pre-Annual exams and are preparing for their Annual Exam which will start on 29 th March and will come to a closed on 13 th April. As a token of their love and respect, the students arranged a fraternal Get-Together for the Fathers and Teachers, under the leadership of the respective Heads of the class. The 9 th and 11 th students have already anticipated their forthcoming academic year. The school will remain close for the summer holidays for a few days. The new admissions to the next Academic Year is expected to start in the month of April. Meanwhile Fr.Xavier met with an accident and suffered some minor injury which seems to recover in quick time. There was a picnic for the staff on 20 th and 21 st March to Alleppy which gave them a very enriching experience and for which the community of Aluva extended their kind co-operation by generously arranging the food and accommodation for the whole team of Tour. THALAPPUZHA Our fathers working in Thalappuzha, Wayanadu also had a rather satisfying three months from January to March. St. Thomas Parish which is taken care by the community in the person of Fr. John Bosco Kuttuthara had celebrated its Parish Feast in the month of January with great devotion and preparation. Fr. Anson Joseph Kalathiparambil, who suffered a leg-ankle injury from a bike accident a few months back, almost pulled out of it and recovered completely and he now looks more agile and active than he was before the accident occurred.
