Exposición del 14 de octubre al 27 de octubre de 2009
Exposición de proyectos de mobiliario doméstico,
desarrollado por los alumnos de 2º de Diseño
Industrial en colaboración con Northern Design y
Grupo Rafael, donde se ofrecen respuestas novedosas
al diseño de mobiliario para la vivienda, especialmente
enfocadas a las múltiples formas de
vida doméstica de jóvenes y estudiantes, lo que
demuestra las posibilidades que ofrece un material
con cualidades como las del Re-board, respetando
los principios de ecología y sostenibilidad.
Exhibition of household furniture projects developed
by second-year Industrial Design students
in collaboration with Northern Design and Grupo
Rafael. The projects provide innovative answers
to household furniture design, especially focused
on the multiple forms of domestic life of young
people and students, demonstrating the possibilities
offered by a material with qualities such as
Re-board and respecting the principles of environmental
friendliness and sustainability.

01 | ÁBRETE SÉSAMO 02 | RE-LAMP
Estantería con escritorio que permanece oculta
mientras no se utiliza y cuyos estantes se abren a
medida que se necesitan.
Bookcase with a desk that is hidden while not in
use and with shelves that open as needed.
El diseño de Re-Lamp es un diseño innovador
con vocación de descontextualizar la lámpara
tradicional. Re-Lamp es una serie compuesta
por tres lámparas: lámpara de pie, de mesa y
de techo.
A partir de una lámina de Re-Board previamente
manipulada con una serie de cortes y dobleces
marcados y con un sistema de “móntelo-ustedmismo”
se obtiene una lámpara barata, estable
y funcional.
The Re-Lamp design is an innovative design that
aims to de-contextualise the conventional lamp.
Re-Lamp is a series comprised of three lamps: a

04 | TÓTEM
En la antigüedad, los Tótems se levantaban como
emblema de la unión entre miembros de la tribu.
Estas representaciones incentivaban la cohesión
del clan.
El proyecto Tótem trae unidad y equilibrio a los
miembros de la casa de hoy, con la función de
lámpara de pared y cesta de ropa sucia.
carácter abstracto del creando un ambiente relajado
e introspectivo.
Se crea un punto nuevo de encuentro al mezclar
ropa de distintos personas reforzandose el
carácter comunal de la pieza.
03 | EL HERMANO PEQUEÑO DE WILLY FOGG
Las mudanzas forman parte de la vida de los
estudiantes y jóvenes que se van de casa. Este
proyecto es una ayuda tanto para el momento
del traslado de los objetos, como para la búsqueda
y compra de nuevos muebles, puesto que de
las cajas se forman bloques a modo de lego, que
unidos crean nuevas estructuras de mobiliario.
Moving is part of the lives of students and young
people with then they leave home. This project
provides help both when moving objects and
when looking for and buying new furniture, given
that the boxes form Lego-type blocks create new
furniture structures when joined together.
In ancient times, primitive cultures built totems
as emblematic monuments to the existing union
between members of the tribe. At the same time,
these representations served as a psychological
way to encourage harmonious relations and cohesion
within the clan.
The Totem project brings this idea of unity and
balance to today’s home for people that live together
with others sharing the same household
environment, functioning as a wall lamp and a
laundry basket.
the internal lighting exalt the abstract nature of the
design, promoting healing and harmony.
Meanwhile, the basket with an array of clothing
mixed together from different people is a clear
expression of the company and complicity of the
human group.

05 | TU Y YO 06 | MANMADILLO
Es un conjunto de mobiliario convertible en una
sola pieza. Está compuesto por dos sillas y una
mesa auxiliar que una vez apilados forman una
mesa alta. Ofrece la posibilidad de convertir tu
habitación en un pequeño salón y permite ahorrar
ese espacio cuando no se está utilizando.
It’s a group of furniture that can be converted into
a single piece. It is made up of two chairs and a
side table that when stacked make a high table. It
provides the possibility of turning your room into a
small living room and enables space to be saved
when not in use.
Producto inspirado en el caparazón en los armadillos.
Éstos tienen la capacidad de encerrarse
en sí mismos como mecanismo de defensa. La
función de este producto es la de aislar al usuario
de elementos que le molestan, ruidos, luces,
gente, etc.
Su contexto de uso es variado y depende
del usuario, salón sobre una butaca, dormitorio
como cabecero de la cama, ……
Product inspired by the shell of armadillos, which
are animals that can tuck themselves into their
shells as a defence mechanism. This product
is designed to isolate users from elements that
bother them, such as noise, lights, people, etc.
It can be used in a variety of context, all depending
on the user: in the living room on an armchair,
in the bedroom as a headboard, and so on.

07 | PRÓTESIS MOBILIARIAS 08 | DEPATITASENLACALLE
Cuna. La cuna, realizada en cartón, se acoplará
a la parte inferior de una mesa, como si de
una prótesis se tratara. Solo basta con voltear la
mesa, y tirar del cordel. Reaprovechando un espacio
que solo es usado cuando la mesa esta en
uso, la pieza nos traslada la cuestión siguiente:
¿Es adecuada la relación entre espacio ocupado
y su uso
Escalera. Escalera de cartón.
Cuna. The cradle, made out of cardboard, is
attached to the underside of a table as if it were
prosthesis. The cradle is obtained by turning the
table over and pulling on the cradle cord. The
goal is to save space. We use the table during the
day and the cradle at night.

sheet of material.

Consiste en un conjunto con todos los elementos
indispensables para una habitación: somier, mesilla
de noche, dos taburetes, mesa de estudio/
comedor y una lámpara.
Todo en una caja de 60x60x60 cm, ligera y fácilmente
transportable. ¿Tus polluelos no echan
a volar ¿No hay manera de que abandonen el
nido ¡¡¡Dales un empujón!!!
Depatitasenlacalle is an Emergency Emancipation
Kit. It is comprised of a set of all of the essential
elements for a room: bed frame, nightstand,
two stools, desk/dining table and a lamp.

09 | HECHA RAÍZ 10 | IDUS
En este proyecto me quise inspirar en la naturaleza
para insistir sobre las cualidades del re-board: reciclable
como el papel, es ultra ligero, resistente al
agua, presenta fuerza y resistencia, es retardante
El resultado consiste una estantería cuyas curvas
están inspiradas en la barrera entre lo natural
y lo estructural. Además intento jugar con la sensación
de privacidad que un árbol puede llegar a
dar en plena naturaleza.
In this project I wanted to get inspiration from
nature to stress upon the qualities of Re-board:
recyclable like paper, ultra lightweight, water re-
-
semble, surface for printing.
The result is a bookshelf with curves inspired by
the barrier between the natural and the structural.
I also try to play with the sensation of privacy that
a tree can manage to give in the middle of nature.
IDUS es un proyecto que explora nuevas formas
de mobiliario modular inspirándose en estructuras
fractales y la necesidad de expresión del usuario a
IDientity virUS, se apropia de los espacios carentes
de identidad de forma libre, permitiendo
con sus diferentes piezas la creación de estructuras
funcionales tanto en horizontal como vertical.
IDUS (IDentity virUS) is a project that explores
new forms of modular furniture inspired by fractal
structures and by the need for users to express
Identity virUS freely takes over spaces lacking
identity, enabling functional, horizontal and vertical
structures to be created from its different pieces.

11 | SILENCIO 12 | REFORMA
En una sociedad tan frenética como la nuestra el
ruido es ese vecino que nadie desea tener.
SILENCIO nace para mitigar ese sufrimiento, aislando
acústicamente cualquier espacio de encuentro.
Su apariencia formal, no responde a un diseño
meramente estético, sino que nace de un estudio
morfológico que busca la creación de planos tridimensionales,
facilitando así la rotura de las ondas
de sonido. Consiguiendo neutralizar, tanto los rui-
dos del exterior como los de dentro de la vivienda.
In a society as frenetic as ours, noise is a neighbor
that nobody wants to have, which appears when
you least expect it and disappears in the same way.
Thanks to Silencio is possible to minimize high
frequencies in the main structure of the home, thus
achieving optimum sound insulation from noises. Its
formal appearance does not respond to a merely
aesthetic design, but is born out of a morphological
study that seeks to create three-dimensional planes
to thus make it easier to break sound waves.
En una vivienda compartida los límites son necesarios.
Aunque una vez se levantan barreras, es
recomendable abrir vanos para no entorpecer el
diálogo entre los integrantes de la casa.
Es un instrumento de comunicación que permite
que los objetos que se almacenan en él, hablen
de cuestiones importantes en la convivencia diaria.
Los huecos que dejan, dialogan con el usuario expresando
lo que ocurre en un momento concreto.
Reforma tu vivienda. Reforma tus costumbres.
Limits are necessary in a shared home. Although
once barriers are erected, it is advisable to make
openings so that dialogue between the members of
the home is not obstructed.
It is an instrument for communication that makes
it possible for objects kept inside of it to talk about
important issues for dailyliving together. The holes left
by these objects when taken away talk with users,
expressing what’s happening in the home at a particular
time. Reform your home. Reform your habits.

EXHIBITION
La exposición Home with Less es el resultado de
una interesante y satisfactoria experiencia, donde
alumnos y profesores, diseñadores, creativos
y productores han invertido cientos de horas de
trabajo conjunto generando más de 20 diseños
diferentes, producto del carácter profesional con
el que se abordan los proyectos de colaboración
entre el IED, sus alumnos y las empresas. A todos,
nuestro reconocimiento y enhorabuena.
Home with Less exhibit is the outcome of an
interesting and successful experience, where
students, teachers, designers, creatives and producers
have invested hundreds of hours working
together to create more than 20 different designs.
