Peruvian businessmen promote “pisco” in Honduras

Representatives from seven Peruvian companies visited Tegucigalpa to
explore opportunities of exporting “pisco”, Peru’s emblematic drink, to the
Honduran market. The producers established links with importers, distributors,
and other persons with an interest in their flagship product. The Embassy of
Peru in Tegucigalpa and the Peru Export and Tourism Promotion Board
sponsored this first travelling promotion mission that contributes to boosting a
broader commercial exchange between Honduras and Peru, with a view to the
signing of a Free Trade Agreement between the countries. After their threeday
trip to Honduras, the Peruvian businessmen continued their tour, visiting
Costa Rica and Panama.
Special recognition awarded to Honduras for responsible fisheries
The United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) and the Fisheries and
Aquaculture Organization of the Central
American Isthmus (OSPESCA) which is part of
the Central American Integration System
(SICA) made a special presentation of a replica
of the “Margarita Lizárraga” Medal to the
Government of Honduras, through the Ministry
of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), for
promoting practices and fisheries management
in a responsible manner that takes into account
biological, technological, economic, social,
environmental and commercial aspects. Every
two years the FAO awards the “Margarita
Lizárraga” Medal to persons or institutions that
promote the Code of Conduct for Responsible
Fisheries.
Margarita Lizárraga contributed considerably to
the concept, introduction and promotion of
responsible fisheries as a basis for supporting
small communities and developing countries.

Honduras presents its first Dictionary of Dialects
The first Dictionary of Dialects of Honduras, published with the support
of the Government of Spain, was presented on the eve of the
International Day of Indigenous People. The event was held in the
Spanish Cultural Center in Tegucigalpa and the text was presented by
the Minister for Culture of Honduras, Tulio Mariano Gonzáles, and the
Ambassador of Spain in Honduras, Luis Belzuz de los Ríos. The
dictionary will provide an opportunity for the national and international
community to get to know the dialects of the indigenous and afrodescendant
