MOLUSCOS FÓSILES DE AGUA DULCE47Luego fueron revisados y analizados por Morton y Jalfin (1987), con más y mejores materiales,todos procedentes de la misma localidad. Como resultado de este estudio se concluyó que la asociaciónestá constituida por Diplodon aff. delodontus (Lamarck), Anodontites aff. trapesialis susannae (Gray),Anodontites?sp., Mycetopoda herbsti Morton y Jalfin y Mycetopoda lutziana Morton. (Figura 3).Es importante destacar que el registro fósil del género Mycetopoda (Mycetopodidae-Mutelacea) selimita únicamente a su presencia en el Plioceno Superior-Pleistoceno Inferior, de la provincia deCorrientes con estas dos únicas especies fósiles.Los bivalvos hallados en la zona de la presa de Yacyretá (Morton y Sequeira, 1991),estratigráficamente proceden de uno a varios niveles de arcillas verdosas y gris oscuras, localizadas aprofundidades variables entre 18 y 21 m bajo la superficie, por debajo de un espesor de arenas decolores amarillentas y ligeramente rojizas, estos horizontes pertenecen a la Formación Ituzaingó.Los materiales están conservados en forma de moldes en muy buenas condiciones de observación,incluso con ornamentaciones umbonales, corresponden al género Diplodon: Diplodon itapuensisMorton y Sequeira y Diplodon ituzangoensis Morton y Sequeira (Figura 4- 5).Se estima que durante la depositación de la Formación Ituzaingó imperaba un clima subtropicaly los bivalvos fósiles estarían limitados al ámbito lacunar, borde de cuenca, someros, donde fueronhallados. Ambas asociaciones fosilíferas estarían integrando paleozoogeográficamente la subregiónGuyano-Brasileña, de dominio subtropical (Bonetto, et al., 1960) y que comprende a todos los ríosque concurren al Río de la Plata, siendo las condiciones paleoambientales que imperaban en el área,en aquella época (Plioceno) similares a las que actualmente se manifiestan en la región.Se estima que durante la depositación de la Formación Ituzaingó imperaba un clima subtropical.BibliografíaBonetto, A.
