The first such crusade was held on Calle Primera, VistaHermosa, in Panama City. Some of the early converts in these crusades were HermeniaVillarreal and Carmen and Anita González, who began working with the Assemblies of Godunder the guidance of missionary Richard Larson, who arrived in Panama in 1969 andestablished a church in the Canal Zone.Carmen González, a few months after her conversion, traveled to the USA and was stronglyinfluenced by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal there. Upon her return to Panama, Carmenworked in an evangelistic ministry in the Province of Chiriquí in western Panama, where shemet María Ramos. Some time later, Carmen and María returned to Panama City and becameleaders in the early Charismatic Renewal Movement there. They met with a large number ofCatholic Charismatics in the Guadalupe Catholic Church until the group was forced to leaveand find another meeting place.
