bronce, oro, porcelana; ingeniosos y sorprendentes autómatas; relojes
Alex Grassy opened the Museum of Antique Clocks to the public in 1953
and it remains open nowadays. His aim was “to bring to the people
anything that could help to improve their education and spiritual life.”
His passion for mechanical clocks led him to collect more than 200 pieces,
peculiar ones and of a great value; undoubtedly, one of the most
important private collections.
The exhibition shows each mechanical clock variety, since the 16th
century up to the early 19th: the greatest antique clockmaking firms such
as James Cox or Raingo; clocks made of gilt bronze, gold or porcelain;
ingenious and surprising automata; case, pendulum and pocket clocks.
Grassy’s heirs task is to preserve, maintain, restore, show and disclose this
important and unique familiar patrimony.
