There are a lot similarities in the Finnish and German library
system, but I've also found a few differences, the system of
HELMET, the floating system and that almost everything is free of
charge. In Germany, adult library users usually have to pay a fee
per year.
If I could bring one thing from Germany to Finland it would be the
education options for the library staff, because we have special
vocational training in Germany and also the study courses are
very library specific and in reverse I would bring the more
recognized public opinion about libraries in Finland.
I liked Finland a lot, my first
impression got replaced,
because of the people, the
beautiful nature and I think I
have to come back again to
take a summer holiday at a lake
in a small cottage in the middle
of the woods.
