Cette confér<strong>en</strong>ce se déroulera <strong>en</strong> anglais.<br />

This session will examine variable, learner-<strong>de</strong>termined factors such as<br />

motivation, attitu<strong>de</strong>, aptitu<strong>de</strong>, learning styles, beliefs, culture - in other words<br />

the ‘psychological’ elem<strong>en</strong>ts of language learning, and seek to review differ<strong>en</strong>t<br />

classroom approaches that take these into account in or<strong>de</strong>r to achieve a<br />

balance betwe<strong>en</strong> the profile of the individual learner and the language learning<br />

goals of the group, the ‘pedagogical’ elem<strong>en</strong>t. The approach tak<strong>en</strong> in the<br />

session will be a practical one. Participants will be able to compare, review<br />

and explore various classroom managem<strong>en</strong>t strategies that help teachers meet<br />

the diverse needs of their learners.<br />

Fiona Hardy has taught in adult education for 23 years. In that time, she has<br />

moved from teaching Fr<strong>en</strong>ch at post-A level to teaching English as a Foreign<br />

Language (EFL). Since 97, she has be<strong>en</strong> a trainer, working on pre- and inservice<br />

courses for EFL teachers and, occasionally, teachers of Fr<strong>en</strong>ch.<br />
