INTRODUCTION
The present Yearbook of Tourism Statistics, has been prepared by the UNWTO
Department of Statistics and Tourism Satellite Account. It is the 62 nd edition in a series initiated
in 1947. It presents for 204 countries and territories data on total arrivals and overnight stays
associated to inbound tourism with breakdown by country of origin.
In the present Yearbook, the titles of the tables are in English only. Notes are given in
English, French and Spanish. Names of countries, regions and sub-regions as well as the
classification included on the tables are in English only. Countries are classified in accordance
with English alphabetical order.
The statistical data published are those officially received from national tourism
administrations and national statistical offices.
All the data received are subject to different kind of controls and any discrepancies
observed are consulted with the informing unit that confirms or rectifies, if necessary, the data
previously sent.
Due to the rounding in the partial figures, the totals shown in the different tables of the
Yearbook of Tourism Statistics may not coincide with the totals shown in the basic indicators of
the Compendium of Tourism Statistics.
Consequently, the data included in this Yearbook have an official character and
have been entered in the UNWTO database as of 31 March 2010. Therefore, any
corrections or changes in the tables received after this date will be included in the next edition
of the Yearbook.
The Yearbook contains data of total arrivals and overnight stays of international inbound
tourism with breakdown by country of origin:
‣ Arrivals
A. Border statistics
• Table 1. Arrivals of non-resident tourists at national borders
• Table 2. Arrivals of non-resident visitors at national borders
B. Statistics on accommodation establishments
• Table 3. Arrivals of non-resident tourists in hotels and similar
establishments
• Table 4. Arrivals of non-resident tourists in all types of
accommodation establishments.
When a person visits the same country several times a year, each visit by the same person is
counted as a separate arrival. If a person visits several countries during the course of a single
trip, his/her arrival in each country is recorded separately. Consequently, arrivals are not
necessarily equal to the number of different persons travelling.
Arrivals data correspond to international visitors to the economic territory of the country of
reference and include both tourists and same-day non-resident visitors.
Data may be obtained from different sources: border statistics derived from administrative
records (police, immigration, traffic counts, and other types of controls), border surveys and
registrations at accommodation establishments.

accommodation establishments.
Overnight stays refers to the number of nights spent by non-resident tourists in
accommodation establishments (guests). If one person travels to a country and spends five
nights there, that makes five tourist overnight stays (or person-nights).

INTRODUCTION
La Section Statistiques et Compte satellite du tourisme de l'OMT est chargée d'élaborer
l’Annuaire des Statistiques du Tourisme. Le présent Annuaire, constitue la 62e édition d'une qui
a débuté en 1947. Il contient pour 204 pays et territoires des données détaillées sur la
ventilation par pays d'origine des totaux des arrivées et des nuitées associées au tourisme
récepteur.
Dans le présent Annuaire les titres des tableaux sont publiés en anglais uniquement. Les
notes sont fournies en anglais, français et espagnol. Le nom des pays, régions et sous-régions
ainsi que les classifications incluses dans les divers tableaux des arrivées et des nuitées sont
publiés uniquement en anglais. Les pays ont été classés par ordre alphabétique anglais.
Les données publiées sont celles officiellement reçues des administrations nationales du
tourisme et des instituts nationaux de la statistique.
Toutes les données reçues sont soumises à différents types de contrôle et les anomalies
éventuellement relevées sont consultées avec l’unité chargée de l’information qui confirme ou,
au besoin, rectifie les données envoyées.
Etant donné l'arrondissement des données partielles, les totaux qui apparaissent dans les
différents tableaux de l'Annuaire des statistiques du tourisme peuvent ne pas correspondre aux
totaux des Indicateurs de base du Compendium des statistiques du tourisme.
En conséquence, les données figurant dans le présent Annuaire ont un caractère
officiel et ont été introduites dans la base de données de l’OMT jusqu’à la date limite
du 31 mars 2010. Toute correction ou modification reçue après cette date sera incorporée à
la prochaine édition de l’Annuaire.
L’Annuaire contient des données détaillées sur la ventilation par pays d’origine des totaux
des arrivées et des nuitées du tourisme international récepteur:

Lorsqu’une personne visite le même pays plusieurs fois dans l’année, chacune de ses
visites est comptée séparément comme une arrivée. Si une personne visite plusieurs pays
au cours d’un seul et même voyage, son arrivée dans chaque pays est enregistrée
séparément. Par conséquent, le nombre d’arrivées n’est pas forcément égal au nombre de
personnes qui voyagent.
Les données des arrivées correspondent aux visiteurs internationaux du territoire
économique du pays dont il s’agit, visiteurs qui comprennent à la fois les touristes et les
visiteurs de la journée (excursionnistes) non résidents.
Ces données peuvent être obtenues de différentes sources : statistiques des frontières
tirées des registres administratifs (police, immigration, comptages de véhicules et autre
types de contrôle), enquêtes aux frontières et registres des établissements
d’hébergement.

Nuitées indique le nombre de nuits que les touristes non résidents ont passées dans les
établissements d’hébergement (en qualité de clients). Si une personne se rend dans un
pays et y passe cinq nuits, on enregistre cinq nuitées de touriste (ou nuits-personne).
L'Organisation mondiale du tourisme tient à exprimer sa gratitude aux administrations
nationales du tourisme et aux instituts nationaux de la statistique des divers pays et territoires

INTRODUCCIÓN
La Sección de Estadísticas y Cuenta Satélite de Turismo de la OMT es la encargada de
elaborar el Anuario de Estadísticas de Turismo. La presente edición del Anuario, constituye la
62 de una serie que comenzó en 1947. Contiene para 204 países y territorios, datos detallados
sobre el desglose por país de origen de los totales de llegadas y pernoctaciones asociadas al
turismo receptor.
En el presente Anuario los títulos de los cuadros aparecen en inglés únicamente. Las
notas figuran en inglés, francés y español. Se publica únicamente en inglés el nombre de los
países, las regiones y subregiones así como las clasificaciones incluidas en los diversos cuadros.
Se han clasificado los países por orden alfabético inglés.
Los datos publicados son los remitidos oficialmente por las administraciones nacionales de
turismo y los institutos nacionales de estadística.
Todos los datos recibidos están sujetos a diversos controles y se consultan todas las
discrepancias con la unidad informante, la cual confirma o rectifica, si es necesario, los datos
remitidos.
Debido al redondeo de las cifras parciales, los totales que aparecen en los distintos
cuadros del Anuario de Estadísticas de Turismo, pueden no coincidir con los totales que
aparecen en los Indicadores Básicos del Compendio de Estadísticas de Turismo.
Así pues, las cifras incluidas en este Anuario tienen carácter oficial y han sido
introducidas en la base de datos de la OMT al 31 de marzo de 2010. Por consiguiente,
cualquier corrección o cambio recibido después de esta fecha aparecerá en la próxima edición
del Anuario.
El Anuario contiene datos detallados sobre el desglose por país de origen de las tablas de
llegadas y pernoctaciones del turismo internacional receptor:

Cuando una persona visita un mismo país varias veces en un año, cada una de esas visitas se
cuenta como una llegada. Si una persona visita varios países en el transcurso de un mismo
viaje, cada llegada a uno de esos países se registra por separado. Por lo tanto, el número de
llegadas no tiene que ser igual al número de personas que viajan.
Los datos de llegadas se refieren a las llegadas de visitantes internacionales en el territorio
económico del país de referencia, sean turistas o visitantes del día no residentes.
Los datos pueden proceder de diversas fuentes: estadísticas de fronteras basadas en registros
administrativos (policía, inmigración, recuentos de circulación y otros tipos de controles),
encuestas en las fronteras e inscripciones en establecimientos de alojamiento.

Las pernoctaciones se refieren al número de noches que pasan los turistas no residentes en
establecimientos de alojamiento. Si una persona viaja a un país y pasa en él cinco noches, se
contarán cinco pernoctaciones turísticas (o pernoctaciones/persona).
La Organización Mundial del Turismo desea expresar su agradecimiento a las
administraciones nacionales de turismo y a los institutos nacionales de estadística de los
diversos países y territorios por su valiosa cooperación.
