We are showing the worldthat our members, as practitioners, and we,as an organization, are deeply committedto maintaining the Gold Standard <strong>of</strong> practiceand continually enhancing the pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism<strong>of</strong> <strong>ADR</strong> practitioners.In due course, we will be introducing newC.Arb criteria, the new Qualified Arbitrator,(Q.Arb) designation, and ContinuingEducation and Engagement requirementsfor those holding the C.Arb designation.At the same time, the <strong>ADR</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Canada</strong> is working to develop training materials(a 40 hour basic mediation courseand a 40 hour basic arbitration course) forany affiliate that wishes to make use <strong>of</strong>these materials. This important initiativewill ensure that Gold Standard Training isavailable across the country.Finally, staff and enthusiastic, talentedmembers <strong>of</strong> <strong>ADR</strong> Atlantic <strong>Institute</strong> arebusy developing our annual national conference,which is booked for October 25-26 in Halifax. The weather in Halifax isbeautiful in the Fall, so you will want tohold this date on your calendar and planto attend. Each year the conference grows,not only in terms <strong>of</strong> the number attending,but with respect to the number and value<strong>of</strong> presentations. With four streams tochoose from, topics are timely and are developedto reflect current issues across<strong>Canada</strong>. This year’s conference willaddress topics such as: DiscoveringNew Practice Niches; Training andCredentialing <strong>of</strong> <strong>ADR</strong> Practitioners; ManagingIntergenerational Issues BetweenParties in Mediation; Collaborative FamilyLaw and Advocacy; Marketing your<strong>ADR</strong> Practice; and much more.The program will be excellent!
