send out its first pulse after receiving the command to reactivate.
Ensure that the symbol for low battery charge ( ) is not displayed on the remote control
display. If the symbol is illuminated or blinking, replace the 9 V alkaline battery and try
again.
Ensure that the remote contact, on the face of the remote control, is used to send ON and OFF
signals.
Rusty or oxidised wire can hamper the quality of the signal you receive. To obtain a clear
signal, rub the remote contact against the fence wire to break through the layer of rust or oxidation.
Ensure that no spring gates or cutout switches have been left open. Sometimes the remote
control will work in spite of minor breaks in the wire, although reliable operation under such
conditions is not guaranteed.
Check for spark gaps and loose wire joints in the fence. Severe or multiple spark gaps reduce
the effectiveness of the remote control.
Use the fault finding function to locate faults in the fence line. See “Using the fault finder” on
page 47.
Ensure that the energiser is connected to the power supply and the fence system and that the
energiser is switched on. Ensure a good earthing system for the energiser.
Try turning the energiser on and off by holding the remote contact against the leadout wire,
or by holding the remote control close to the energiser (within 150 to 300 mm [6 to 12”]). If
the energiser still does not respond, then the remote control and energiser may have different
address settings. See “changing the energiser’s address settings” on page 50 and “Activating
the remote control function of a remote ready energiser” on page 51.
The energiser sometimes turns off unexpectedly
An adjacent property may have an energiser operating at the same address setting. Change
the energiser’s address setting. See “Changing the energiser’s address settings” on page 50. If
the problem persists, seek advice from your PATURA distributor.
