à base d’extraits d’une plante d’Okinawa, long
The island of Okinawa, in the south of Japan, is
reputed for its incredible average age, due to specific
eating habits. The lifespan has inspired Shiseido
for the launch of its new range Chomeiso, which is
translated by “longevity”: a 160-g drink in an aluminum
can and pills to swallow are food supplements
with the extracts of an Okinawa plant, known as “long
life grass,” which contains, among other ingredients, antioxidant polyphenols.
Price: ¥5,000 yen for 180 pills (6 per day) or ¥210 per canned drink
(1 per day).
rouge).
The legendary Japanese company
Rosette, a maker of traditional
soap pastes, is launching the range
Recipure (recipe + pure: a gentle recipe
for the skin and packaging with
a recycled effect), thus attacking the
naturals market for sensitive skin. Eight
products, numbered on the label, and
a special concept: apply the fragrancefree,
colorant-free hydrating milk
(that comes in a refillable jar with
an airless pouch and built-in
pump) to the face and add, according
to the skin’s needs, a concentrate
of hyaluronic acid, collagen,
ceramide or placenta. Finally,
the third step is the three
essences – revitalizing, hydrating
or whitening. On the primary
and secondary packaging, you
can scan the QR code for access to
the website and benefit from a
skin diagnosis.
Could it be a Chupa-Chups lollipop
in a standing blister-back?
Nope. It’s Popchu Gloss from Love
Clover (B&C Laboratories, Sony
group) flavored with champagne,
strawberry or vanilla. Totally regressive
but the idea of the lollipop is
much in fashion at the moment in
Japan. Maybe because “mature”
products have appeared? In another
vein, the glue-maker Fueki has formed a joint-venture
with Prestige to reissue a hand cream in an old-fashioned
jar of glue (a 50-g yellow jar, with two eyes and
a mouth, and a red cap top).
The Japanese singer and transvestite Ikko, hugely famous in his country,
co-hosts a television show (on NTV), called “One-Mans” with lots of
makeup artists and other cross-dressers who deal with women’s beauty.
They only talk about tried-and-true products, covering all segments and
brands. So much so that the mention of a brand results in stock shortages
and Ikko has become a cosmetics store label, with a sticker bearing his portrait
appearing on the products he presented on the show. In the magazine
Biteki of January 2009, the products “of the year” have been selected
neither by consumers, demonstrators, or journalists, as is the custom: all
were noticed by Ikko, who presents them in seven pages, including visuals
and comments. Everything is there, from YSL to Amore, via Clinique,
Sisley, The Body Shop and Clé de Peau.
