Auxiliar de conversa (PROGRAMA CAP)
Keep calm & escolteu música
English is becoming more and more important in our school, and that’s evident with the investment of
hours and activities that our students have in the school. One of the most important projects is have
a native conversation auxiliary. This year we have had two helping our students, Joe at secondary and
Hayley at primary. In the following text they’ll explain their experience in our school…
“Being involved with a
conversation auxiliary
program at la Mercè has
proved to be an interesting,
challenging, enriching, at
times exhausting but always
fun experience for us.
The kids are of course, the
reason we and the incredibly
focused, passionate team of
teaching staff are here.
We believe that this type of
language learning program
is beneficial to these young
learners. Lesson and activities
aside, it works because they
all have such strong and
distinct personalities that
we were encouraged from
very start to make friends -
with all of them – and then,
they talk – and this is how
language acquisition and comprehension works, once they have the need to communicate with a
friend and the confidence to try.
We really weren’t sure what to expect from this year at la Mercè, in Martorell or in Catalonia. The
kids and staff (parents and friends) of the school have given so very generously to us in every way;
Friendship, advice, time, emotional and edible support as “students” living in a local families’ home and
have helped us to realize, on a passion level – that working in education is something we would like to
pressure.
If that doesn’t say what a great time we’ve had, what does?
We will miss everyone here when we leave, no exceptions.

Quantes vegades no haurem vist i sentit “Keep Calm” al llarg d’aquest curs? Potser han estat tantes que ja
n’hem perdut el compte. I de ben segur que tots hem fet servir aquesta expressió unes quantes vegades,
davant de situacions que ens desborden.
Doncs bé, dir o sentir “keep calm” comporta una actitud al darrere, una voluntat de parar, primer, de respirar
profundament i, després, saber fer durar aquesta sensació de benestar i de calma en nosaltres.
És per això que els mestres i professors de l’escola hem volgut compartir, no les situacions d’estrès, sinó el
que ens fa tornar a la calma: aquelles músiques, cançons i autors que ens porten cap a la pau i la serenor.
Aquest n’és un recull. De veritat que serà bo sentir-les i poder-les utilitzar en alguns moments. Si voleu
