Happy New Year 2021: May it be safe, healthy, and filled with new learning!
Getting that learning part going are 14 registered participants in the very
popular Hebrew in a Jiffy class. It already started, and surprising fun ensued. The
course will continue into March 2021. I’m sure we could talk Mark & Linda into doing
it again. If you are interested, send us a note.
On other class updates, the book discussion led by Rabbi Franken on The Book of Lost
Names will take place on Saturday, January 23rd at 10 am. Read the book – it’s
excellent. Then join in; it’s open to whoever wants to join us (link on our web page &
the temple calendar).
We have several goals for 2021, including developing two new classes, with a speaker
series concentrating on current events. Potentially a “Lunch & Learn” format. Let me
know what you would like to talk about, then let’s make it happen together!
The JNF is working on a new virtual tour with 25 slots open to our group. Since the
Israeli tour’s success last year, I’m looking forward to finding out more about this one.
The Adult Ed committee is also discussing new learning formats such as Day trips to
important sites such as museums & historic sites, hiking or nature walks, and even
classes to learn necessary skills for MS Office applications.
Remember, there are other educational, stimulating offerings as well. Check out our
web page for the latest https://harfordjewishcenter.org/jewisheducation/adulteducation.
There will be even more improvements to our web page in 2021. We hope to add a
registration process, payments/donations capability when appropriate, and standardize
a repeatable process for updates.
If you are interested in participating in or developing new classes or have ideas moving
towards greater congregational involvement, please don’t hesitate to contact your Adult
Ed committee at adulted@templeadasshalom.org.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Stay healthy and stay safe & Happy New Year 2021.
Sincerely,
Stephen Marksamer
