Í sumar kvöddum við okkar ástkæra samstarfélaga

og vin. Mummi var svo sannarlega stór hluti af

Púkafjölskyldunni og snerti alla sem hann afgreiddi

og þjónustaði í Púkanum, alltaf greiðvikin, brosandi

og með einstakt jafnaðargeð - minnið og töluglöggvun

hans var svo mikil að hann var uppnefndur “rainman”

eða “fíllinn” mjög fljóttlega en fékk svo að lokum

viðurnefnið “Mummi the Manual”.

Okkur langar að þakka öllum viðskiptavinum okkar

sérstaklega fyrir komuna eftir andlát hans fyrir

stuðninginn sem við höfum fundum frá ykkur og

fyrir að skrifa í minningarbókina hans, við vitum að

hann yrði snortinn yfir því.

Við minnumst Mumma fyrir svo margt,, nokkrir

týpískir Mumma frasar:

- “það er betra að fá fyrirgefningu en leyfi”

- “ég drekk ekki vatn, ég drekk kaffi þar fæ ég

vatnið”

- “ef það þarf að vinna auka þá vinn ég “

- “ætla að stökkva í einn”

- “Leiðin að hjartanu er í gegnum magann”.

Við sem unnum með honum söknum hans á hverjum

Skate Rock

Thrasher released a music compilation

series titled “Skate Rock” under the High

Speed Productions label. The first release

was in 1983, with Volume One,

and continued until Volume Seven in 1989.

The series started out featuring Californian

punk rock bands, including bands fronted

by skateboarders,

such as Steve Caballero, Tony Alva, and

Klaus Grabke under the name Eight Dayz.

Of the seven volumes of Skate Rock, all

volumes were produced as a cassette

available through Thrasher Magazine.

BOARDING

When it comes to human-powered transportation, you can’t beat a skateboard for cool points.

The first time you try careening around on a board, keep these tips in mind to help you ride

solid and avoid unnecessary wipeouts.

Suit Up Proper

When you’re first learning how to move and brake, you’re going to fall off your board. Possibly

even a lot. Come prepared with kneepads, elbow pads, wrist guards to protect your joints when

you try to catch yourself on the way down, and a helmet to protect the precious skull that holds

the precious brain that holds all your precious newfound skateboarding knowledge.

Start Still on Something Soft

Before you take it to the streets, take a couple minutes to practice and get a strong sense of balance by

standing on your board on a soft patch of grass, or even your living room carpet. The first time you jump

onto a board you can feel pretty shaky, so if you tumble right away, it’s nice to land on a gentle surface that

won’t scrape you up something nasty. Practice basic standing to see whether you feel more comfortable

with your left foot forward (also called riding “regular style”) or your right foot forward (sometimes called

“goofy style”), then try bending and straightening to get the feel of it all. Once you feel really grounded in

your stance, head out to some flat pavement to get moving.

Push Like You’re Walking

To keep the board from sliding out from under your feet, keep your movements simple. You can push to

build speed just by taking your front foot and making a basic step forward, as though you were walking.

Instead of pushing the skateboard away from yourself and losing control, think of your motion as sort of like

being a gondolier pushing a boat along, and work with the direction you’re already going. Maintain control by

making fewer big, powerful pushes instead of a flurry of lots of little paddles.

Use your Back Foot for a Basic Brake

The easiest way to brake when you’re boarding is called foot braking. All you do is take your back foot off the board, and drag it on the ground

to slow your momentum until you stop moving. Practice this at slow speeds until it’s a totally built-in reflex, and then amp up your MPH knowing

you can cruise confidently and stop or slow yourself immediately as needed, without worrying about how to do so.

Get Fancy Later

Your new cool green transport will give you lots of room for creativity once you’ve mastered the basics. In addition to using your board for

simple back-and-forth to and from work, school, rad parties, dental checkups, or whatever else is going on in your life, skateboarding can be a

serious artform. Take a weekend afternoon or two to just plain mess around and enjoy the zen of skating. But, before you take a flying leap at

your first ollie, make sure you can simply locomote responsibly and safely.

Skateboard er eitt af því skemmtilega verkefni og við fórum af stað með það markmið

Hey! I’m 25 and I live in Tampere, Finland

where I’m from, although there is not

much to skate here haha

I’m not sure where they’re coming from but

after having really bad back problems for 4

years and not being able to skate for almost

3 years straight, my skating changed I guess.

I couldn’t jump down stairs or anything with

a big impact anymore so I was kinda forced

to start thinking other shit to skate. The ideas

comes on the spot 95% of the time. Whatever

spot I go I usually try to find something to do

there. I like to try skate everything. But if the

spot is 15 stair I’m not gonna jump down, but

if it happens that there is a grass hill next to

it I’m gonna try to go down that or whatever

rock there is next to the stairs I might to try

skate that instead hahah.

WHY DID YOU FIRST CHOOSE SKATEBOARDING?

HOW DID IT ALL START?

I wouldn’t say I chose it. I tried a skateboard one time

and after that I just wanted to skate more and more

so my Dad got me and my brother skateboards from

a supermarket.

getting worse. And that’s my biggest challenge

at the moment. I’m trying to get to the

point that I can skate without having to think/

feel about the injuries all the time I skate.

Most of the trips have been the best trips so

far but one of the trips that were special was to

Bolivia, Uyuni couple years back. Very interesting

to see that place maybe not skatewise but

everything else about it.

ANY FUNNY / ONE-OF-A-KIND SITUATION

HAPPENNED TO YOU LATELY?

Its not funny haha but first thing that came to my

mind that happened lately. So I went on a trip to

Russia with my friend Onni Saltevo. And every flight

we took was some way messed up. We missed our

connection on the way there because of a delay

and had to take a taxi to a other airport 200km

away but there were no flights going until the next

day, so we had to spend night in the middle of nowhere

in Russia and took the flight next day. On the

way back the same shit happened. Actually a little

In 1992 the Element seed was planted.

Our goal was simple, to be the best we could be in

the most honest and ethical way possible.

We joined together to elevate what we all truly believe

in. Today we continue to create the art, direction and

message on the constant path to bring progress to

skateboarding. We are more than a business; we are

OUR STORY

WIND

Who would have thought that coming from such a turbulent

background would set the destiny for an individual

to create Element. Fate or not; it took passion and endurance

for this person to find his calling. An avid skateboarder

since the age of four, Johnny Schillereff was just

in his youth with only a few things keeping him grounded;

nature, art and the skateboard under his feet. After

years of challenging times, Johnny made the conscious

decision to reshape his life and do something positive

with his unwavering dedication to skateboarding. This

was when his “Elementality” began to surface and things

would never be the same.

WATER

The first incarnation of Element came in the form of a

small collaborative company from the East Coast called

Underworld Element. Most often referred to as Underworld,

the company was inspired by the hip-hop movement

and used a mixture of urban styles to reflect a raw

and controversial vibe. Underworld’s Atlanta based headquarters

facilitated art, music and design for many creative

individuals. Soon after its inception, the company

was plagued with many challenges, the business began to

collapse and its original crew had moved on.

FIRE

Johnny was left with two choices: either turn a struggling

company around, or abandon the project altogether

and start something entirely new. He chose

a bit of both and moved forward with the word Element.

In his eyes, Element alone stood for something

totally different than it’s previous life. It wasn’t merely

a name change, he created its iconic Tree Logo

and rebuilt the company from scratch. The negative

was turned to positive, and Element was born. At the

time, it was the antithesis of the industry and misunderstood.

Through hard work, imagination and determination

the tree began to grow.

EARTH

Since its humble beginnings, Element was created out of

passion and an unwavering dedication to making a positive

difference. The tree continues to grow while it respects

its deepest roots and embraces the landscape of

skateboarding, and the lifestyle that surrounds it. From

team riders to advocates, and product to marketing, Element

is all inclusive, whose mission is to lead not follow,

and leave an imprint deep enough, that it continues to

make the world a better place.

Hraunbreiður og sprengigígar allt um kring sem á sér

enga samlíkingu. Að ná að renna sér frammá kvöld

með upplýstar brekkur og norðurljósin dansandi allt um

kring er stund sem fátt getur toppað!

Bláfjöll eru stærsta skíðasvæði okkar íslendinga. Það

samanstendur af 14 skíðalyftum, brettagarði og töfrateppi

með nokkra möguleika af leiðum úr hverri lyftu.

Það voru forsvarsmenn skíðadeilda sem áttuðu

sig einna fyrst á hversu

snjóþungt gat verið í

Bláfjöllum að þeir töldu

sniðugt að setja upp lyftur

á svæðið. Fyrstu lyfturnar

koma upp á vegum skíðadeilda

í lok 7unda áratugarins

og í kjölfarið fór af

stað hröð uppbygging í

Bláfjöllum.

Það nýjasta í Bláfjöllum í dag er brettalyftan sem var

sett upp í Norðuleiðinni þarsíðasta vetur og vekur mikla

lukku!. Hún nær frá botni og uppá flatann.

Tilgangur lyftunnar er fyrst og fremst að þjónusta

brettaparkið sérstaklega sem um leið minkar almennt

álagið á Kónginn, aðal flutningslyftu Bláfjalla. Það er því

verið að slá tvær flugur í einu höggi. Bretta og skíðafólk

sem er eingöngu að sækja í parkið kemst rakleitt þangað

og aðrir skíða og brettamenn sem vilja ride-a frá

toppi fara í Kónginn í minni röð en áður.

Í dag sækja Skíðasvæðin á

bilinu 70-100.000 gestir á ári, en fjöldinn ræðst eðlilega

af veðrinu.

Síðasti vetur var mjög mildur og því aðeins 40 opnunardagar

í Bláfjöllum í fyrra. 2015-2016 voru flestir

opnunardagar yfir tímabilið eða 88 dagar!

Við bíðum spennt eftir opnun í ár og krossum fingur yfir

góðum og snjómiklum vetri!

Fyrir liggur veruleg uppbygging á næstu 6 árum í Bláfjöllum og

Skálafelli. Sveitarfélögin hafa skrifað undir samkomulag um

uppbyggingu á 4 stólalyftum, snjóframleiðslu og fleiru.

Á árunum 2025-2030 er svo áætlað að byggja skála á báðum

svæðum og setja upp topplyftu í Skálafelli.

Í Bláfjöllum er boðið uppá veitingasölu, skíða-og brettaleigu og um

helgar er boðið uppá skíða og brettaskóla. Allt eru þetta gríðarlega

mikilvægir þættir í rekstri skíðasvæðis.

the places I experienced on that journey - Antarctica, other wilderness

and the Arctic - were totally mind blowing and such a teacher. I love exploring!!

What is your greatest fear?

GHOST-Bikes has close ties to the

mountain bike sport, and has been a

competent partner of international top

riders for many years.

After several professional engagements

in competitive racing, GHOST founded

its very own Factory Racing Team in

2011. The goal: to implement creative

Ending on a high

The 2019 World Cup Season

comes to an end

What a season it has been. Emotions ran high

throughout the year, with both up and downs.

Anne Terpstra took her first World Cup win in

Andorra, becoming the first Dutch female athlete

to ever do so. In Snowshoe, Anne came

close to winning her second World Cup, but

after an epic battle with Pauline Ferrand-Prevot

she finished in 2nd. Lisa Pasteiner rode

to her best ever result in Andorra with a 5th

place. Sina Frei took the under 23 world title

in Mont-Sainte-Anne. Barbara Benko defended

her Romanian title with success. Marika

Tovo meanwhile is getting back on the bike

and improving every single day. GHOST Factory

Racing had a hugely successful year,

with a clean sweep of seven wins as being

the best women’s team in the World Cup.

It is a testimony for what the team has

achieved. Every single one of the girls has put

in a tremendous effort. There is a lot more to

it than just results though. Mountain biking is

an individual sport in the end, but the mental

factor is at play. Anne’s performance this year

and the huge strive she has made showcases

the impact mindset can have. As a team,

everyone benefits from seeing this. Every

single person will have their up and downs,

but this combined mental power is what is

the true value of being in a team. It gets you

through those tough times, when alone on

the road. It motivates to get yourself up and

going again. It makes you laugh when all you

want to do is cry.

The season is now coming to an end. There

still are some races to go for most of the girls.

Mostly though, the time has come to relax, go

back to friends and family and enjoy life. How

enjoyable life on the road sometimes is, and

however sweet the taste of victory can be, the

offseason is of incredible value.

So, thank you 2019. It has been an incredible

journey. Painful at times, disappointing

sometimes but first and foremost it has

shown us what really matters. Competition

can be tough and demanding, but mental

power can overcome harsh times and lead to

unimaginable success. Never let your head

down, enjoy the ride.

Sixteen months later

In January 2018 Anne Terpstra finds herself

in a South-African hospital. A crash in training

resulted in a broken ankle. Her comeback

was remarkably strong, resulting in the Dutch

national mountain bike title. In Glasgow, during

the European Championships, her injury

would be back with a vengeance. An infection

resulted in another operation, jeopardizing

her season again. Once again she was

thrown back, having to start from zero all

over again.

July 7, 2019 – Andorra World Cup

Terpstra who took the lead again, riding away from

the field after the second lap. Jolanda Neff closed

the gap in the fifth lap, attacked in the descent, only

to get countered directly after. Anne Terpstra fired

on all cylinders as she left Neff wondering what had

just happened. Moments later, Anne would take a

historic win as she became The Netherlands’ first

female athlete to win a Mountain Bike World Cup.

The road to victory

Anne’s victory was unexpected for many, including

herself. She’s had quite a few setbacks in recent

years but has come out on top. A result of many

factors, excellent support, team atmosphere and

an attitude which has allowed her to rebound like

never before. It might be the very essence of sport

Andorra.

fyrir BMX sportinu sem hann stundaði þá sjálfur af

fullu kappi ásamt fjallahjólreiðum... “Ég gjörsamlega

kolféll fyrir BMXinu sportinu og var kominn

með BMX bakteríuna! Ekki leið á löngu þangað til

BMX BRÓS

”Við erum þrír félagar sem köllum okkur BMX

BRÓS, við höfum verið með BMX sýningar fyrir

landsmenn og ferðast þvers og kruss um landið frá

árinu 2015, allt frá sýningum á leikskólum, framhaldsskólum,

músik festivölum og bæjarhátíðum

og lengi mætti telja.

Það hefur ekkert annað áhugamál haft eins mikil

áhrif á líf mitt eins og BMX sportið.. og vil ég þakka

öllum þeim sem hafa komið þar við sögu alveg innilega.

Hugsa að ég geti nú orðið titlað mig sem BMX

Hvað með Stereo?

“Ég hef verið afskaplega duglegur að brjóta stell og BMX

parta síðan ég byrjaði a BMX og gæti ekki talið skiptin sem

ég hef brotið stell og part á báðum höndum og fótum..

Ég er búinn að hjóla á Stereo síðastliðin 3 ár og....7/9/13...

þá hef ég ekki enn brotið neitt frá þeim. Ekki part né stell.

Eigandi Stereo leggur mikinn metnað í að bjoða uppa bmx á

viðráðanlegu verði en samt sem áður að láta framleiða þau á

besta mögulega máta.. og þar skiptir framleiðsluland miklu

máli. Mikið af hjólum í dag eru framleidd í Kína, Stereo eru

framleidd í Taiwan og það hefur mikið að segja gæðalega

séð.

Svo er auðvitað gott við Stereo hvað úrvalið er gott hérna á

Íslandi og verðin hagstæð”.

Hvernig lærðir þú að byrja að

læra trix? Hvernig er best að

byrja og hvert er sniðugt að fara

að hjóla, bæði til að æfa sig og

leika sér?

Við erum fjórir BMX-arar sem höldum úti BMX æfingum í (BFH)

Brettafelagi Hafnarfjarðar og höfum verið með síðustu ár. Þær

ganga vonum framar. Þar erum við að miðla okkar reynslu til

krakkana, kenna þeim að stökkva, gera trix og svo lengi mætti

telja. Þannig erum við vonandi að tryggja að það muni einhver

feta í okkar fótspor um ókomna tíð

Ég var svo heppinn að kynnast og vera dreginn inní íslensku

It all started from my father. He rode Motorbike

in the past and changed to MTB; he

brings me with him all time and this is why

it’s on my DNA, I think. So, I started to ride

early and really loving it.

At what point did you decide / realize that

you were going for pro athlete?

It was on a French cup, Laurent (my team

manager) came talk with me and I joined

the Pure Agency program. I entered a Team

where was my idol Blenky (sam Blenkinsop)

What is the best advise you’ve ever gotten

and who gave you that advise?

Learn how to say no. That’s from my entourage

but mainly from my mechanic and

mental trainer.



I work with a physical and mental coach.

The main part of my physical job is done

during the winter, from October to march/

April. My physical coach follows me all

season on the circuit and work a lot on my

lines choices during trainings.

How do you work under pressure? How do

you handle the pressure when competing?

I’m good when the pressure is on, I like to

feel the nervosity of the group. When the

pressure is really big, then it starts to be

hard to hold but I feel like it always made

me better than I thought I was.

I try to see pressure as a positive factor, it’s

part of the game. I’m supposed to be one

of the best riders so I try to act like I know

what I’m doing haha.



You need to be strong on a short effort, because

tracks are not longer than 5min. Deep

muscle are really important to keep the control

of the bike and not the inverse. I train on

my road bike, with intervals and also at the

gym with some specific’s exercises.

What is the best thing that you love about

your work?

Being Able to work with great persons,

feel the quality of the people and gathered

some of my best assets around me


Big injuries, because they can happen to

anyone of us.

Which living persons in your profession do

you most admire?

There is few for different reasons, but my

team manager is a model for me, really inspiring,

serious and fun at the same time,

cool and strict…

What is the trait that you most deplore in

yourself?

My non ability to make decisions.

Sumar 2019 -Ennþá meiri aukning!

Skálfell bikepark stimplaði sig heldur betur inn í sumar

sem vinsælasti down hill garður á Íslandi. Heildargestir

yfir tímabilið (2. júli -2. september) voru 1911 manns,

en í fyrra sumar mættu 930 manns svo aukningin er yfir

100%

Meðalfjöldi gesta á opnun var 100,5 svo það er greinilegt

að það var líf og fjör í fjallinu!

og fleiri brautir og palla fyrir Bikeparkið. Með nýrri lyftu

minnkar tíminn úr 10 mínútum niður í 4,5, sem þýðir að

þú getur náð 5 til 6 ferðum á klukkustund”.

Nokkrar breytingar voru á svæðinu og var td. gömlu

flowtrail brautinni breytt í Roller coaster, og ný Flowtrail

braut opnuð.

Bob Maarten Van Duin Rekstrarstjóri Skálafells vill

koma á framfæri þakklæti til allra þeirra sem lögðu

leið sína í fjallið og var hann sérstaklega ánægður með

hversu mikið af fjölskyldufólki var á svæðinu í sumar.

Svæðið var að venju vel útbúið fyrir opnun og Wallride-ið

hélt áfram að slá í gegn.

Í Skálafelli eru þrjár brautir:

Flowtrail: Ný braut sem allir geta rúllað, engin stökkpallur,

bara beygjur og tabletops.

Roller coaster: Meiri hraði, litlir stökkpallar, Wallride,

meira thrill.

Jumptrail: Enn meiri hraði, stökkpallar, drop, wallride.

Mikil uppbygging í gangi í

Púkinn átti líkt og í fyrra í góðu samstarfi við bike parkið

og var áfram með útleigu á GHOST hjólum og fatnaði

við góðar undirtektir! Skálafell er eina bike parkið á Höfuðborgarsvæðinu

með stólalyftu.

Hvað er sérstakt við svæðið?

“Skálafell er mjög skemmtilegt og fjölskylduvænt útivistarsvæði.

Bæði sem vetrar og sumar svæði með góðum

anda. Skálafell er í mikilli uppbyggingu. Til að nefna þá er á

dagskrá að gera nýja 4 sæta stólalyftu, snjóframleiðslu

Nýja Flowtrail brautin var sú vinsælasta í ár, bæði hjá

byrjendum og vönu fólki.

Fyrir byrjendur hentar hún vel því það er engin pallur og

engar krappa beygjur.

Fyrir vana er hún ekki síður vinsæl því þá er hægt að

taka brautina mjög hratt og fá gott og mikið flæði.

Næsta sumar á svo að gera enn meira fyrir hjólasvæðið,

en þá á að bæta við stærri pöllum í jumpline, einnig á að

gera breytingar á roller coaster með fleiri flottum

beygjum og pöllum.

Sjáumst hress næsta sumar!

Útleigan á GHOST hjólum og fatnaði fór fram úr vonum og voru

allt að fimmtán hjól í útleigu í sumar!

What is the thing that you dislike the most in your

work?

Im really burnt out on traveling. Ive been a traveling

athlete for the last 32 years. I enjoy sleeping in my

bed and cooking my own food.


Traveling lol. I do still enjoy a good natural terrain

road trip, or jumping in the van and hitting races.

Riding with friends. My fondest memories of my

career are traveling the world with my buddies, riding

hard, and raising hell. The raising hell part has

slowed down, but I still love catching up with buddies

and riding the hill or tracks.


I think its how im approachable. Like I said I make

time for fans, and people for conversation. That bit

of interaction goes a long way when you are an endorsed

athlete. Fans are loyal and tend to stick with

you through it all.

Who are your heroes and heroines in real life?

My wife, and fabricators. My wife because she has

been able to build an empire and fan base through

her music. Very similar to an athlete’s career. And

she has been doing it for 20 years and is the most

popular of her career. Fabricators, because my new

career path. Ive taken my skills from working on my

mx bikes into the twin world. I now build custom

few events, but fabricators that can take a flat sheet

of steel and turn it into a faring or gas tank through

their craft is amazing. In another life I would have

started fabricating in my teens.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you

recently?

My daughter is very sharp and sarcastic. She was

was a bike that went on to win a couple building

competitions. s=she asked if I was a mechanic, I

said well im more of a fabricator than a mechanic.

I explained the difference and she said with a stone

look on her face, “right, you are a mechanic”.

What inspires you?

No question, Fox. Ive been lucky enough to ride for

year will be my 20th year. But before riding for fox, I

Cold lol. But I would love to go ride in iceland. I bet
